"For services to motorsport". If only Surtees had managed to do that.
Or perhaps he should have invited Cameron to the Edenbridge parade last year. It is no co-incidence that Cameron was visiting Williams at Grove last year when he pledged racing on closed roads and now Patrick gets his K. Well deserved of course, but there doesn't seem to be much logic to how these things are doled out. Why Head and not Brawn or Newey? And when will it be Lord Hamilton of Croydon?

If there's any justice in the thinking of whoever decides these things, a very, very, VERY long time after Lord Ron of Woking and Lord Stirling of Mayfair.

Justice? No. But a timely contribution to party funds will often help.....

I wonder if Williams Advanced Engineering's various projects for the Ministry of Defence lifted him onto the radar [metaphorically]? Either way, I think it's a deserved award for engineering, including work outside the world of Formula 1, and I don't doubt his father would have been very proud at having his CBE topped.

Just reward for a life of ear-splitting, intensely competitive, application and service. Really, really good news. Rather a Racer that is honoured than some mere time-serving apparatchik or politician. I'm pretty sure however that, compared to some, Patrick will be relatively unimpressed by the whole deal...

Years ago, when Sir Patrick was active in the F1 team and also present with him on the pit wall was Dickie Stanford. I kept expecting that Murray W would get their names mixed up and refer to them as Patrick Stanford and Dick(ie) Head
Congratulations Sir Patrick..

Let's face it, it is only the truly worthy that receive these gongs. Van Morrison has got his knighthood for having a nice hat, and Dame Angelina Jolie has spent a lifetime researching Class A narcotics. Don't let anyone tell you they have no value in a modern grown-up State.

Jones is a God. He needs no knighthood!
