Hi

I'm looking for information on three circuit race meetings / weekends in the UK; preferably entry lists or race results, but any information would be greatly appreciated:

Sunday 10th July 1983

I think this was at Goodwood?  All the information I have is "G'WOOD" and that it was possibly organised by MGCC / MG Car Club

24th March 1985

Possibly run by BHRC?

15th September 1985

Possibly run by BHRC?

I know that's not much to go on, but I have scrutineering passes for those dates, so trying to identify what meetings and therefore what cars they were from.

Thanks for any help!

1983 at Goodwood couldn't have been a race meeting as racing had stopped long before that. Most likely a sprint.

I have magazine'racewise' which covered results of all 1985 UK meetings.only ones on March 24 were at Ingliston & Silverstone F3000.

sept 14 castle Combe BRSCC;Pheonix ParkIMRC.

Goodwood closed at end of 1966-not used  until revival meeting. Are you sure your passes are not from hill climbs;Rallies ,etc?

In 1985, BHRC would have been the Brands Hatch Racing Club and, therefore, I would be fairly safe to assume it would be held at Brands. Infuriatingly, my collection of BH Circuits year calendars stops at 1984.

You don't explain the cause of your uncertainty over the identity of the organizing club; is it perhaps a sloppy hand-written reference - and could it be BARC?
They had a Snett meeting on 24th; Autosport didn't report a Brands meet in the following issue.

could it have been SMRC who ran the races at Ingliston? They also had a meeting on sept 15.

Thanks everyone

I'm trying to investigate the history of a circuit car, but its not beyond the possibility that it could have been used on some sprint events too.  So if the "G'WOOD" under Event/Club does mean Goodwood then it could have been a sprint.

Rob29 - do you have the results from the meeting at Ingliston on 24th March 1985?

Alan Cox & 2F-001 - Thanks, it is hand writing so there is the potential to mis-read it, but its 90% BHRC rather than BARC...!  So Brands Hatch Racing Club and the Snetterton meeting are both possible avenues to investigate - thanks!

So Rob29 - its unlikely to have been SMRC, but the car was in Scotland for a long time, so again, its an avenue to investigate.

Thanks for all the help so far - its all much appreciated!

Morning Rob29 - its a Mini; again apologies this isn't too helpful, but it could have had any engine in it at the time!  And I don't know who was driving it at that time either!

Sunday 24th March 1985 it was car 87/187

Sunday 15th September it was car 59.

Thanks!

The shared car, two drivers with different numbers (87/187), suggests a sprint event on 24 March 1985.  This fits with the 1983 scrutineering ticket from Goodwood as BRG suggests in post #2.

That's a good point Charles Helps - I'd not considered that.

I wondered whether it was car 87 out of 187, but you're right as adding / removing a '1' character would have been the ideal for a double entry.

Yes.Seems that was the standard patten for Ingliston-up to and over 1600cc TC races Racewise mag has full results for all UK (& Ireland)meetings 1985 & 86.Sadly only lasted those two years-think I still have 'Autosport' coverage of everything since then.

I don't have any information on the March 24th meeting at Ingliston, it was closed to spectators.

At the September 15th meeting, George Smith had number 146 and James Mackay number 165.

There was no number 59 in the up to 1600cc road saloon race.

At other races in 1985, Robert Thomson had number 143.

Just an update for you all - the very helpful MG Car Club have confirmed they did run a sprint event at Goodwood on 10th July 1983, so that's one bit of information that I know is fact!  Unfortunately they don't have any records of the entry or results!

The Triple M Register might be worth trying, then. Their 1984 Yearbook - available on their website - acknowledges the existence of the event but only records the relevant MG performances. Maybe they might have the full results sheet lurking in their archive?

Thanks Vitesse2 - I've contacted the MMM to see if they have anything!
