The 2nd and final in-season test of 2015 takes place at the Red Bull Ring. Nearly all the teams have stayed on after the race to take part, with exception of Marussia.
Once again Force India and Ferrari are the only teams not using either of their race drivers to test.

A version of live testing here: http://en.f1i.com/live/
F1today: http://www.f1today.n...3/red-bull-ring
Sky: http://www1.skysport...stria/live-blog

Also seems the F1.com is covering the test in some form, not sure if they have done so before so will be interesting to see how good their coverage is:

Formula1.com and our official Twitter channel, @F1, will bring you the latest news, images and reaction throughout the Spielberg test. Subscribers to the official F1 App can also get regular live updates on the latest testing times from Austria.

Test starts at 08.30 local time, with a lunch break 12.00-13.00.

Didn't Rosberg test in Spain as well?

Mercedes' german bias is starting to show again.

He did. It was originally scheduled to be Lewis but according to the Merc twitter account Lewis didn't want to do the test.

@LewisHamilton He was scheduled to drive this week but chose not to.

That is probably true. As we said, Lewis was scheduled to drive but asked to be excused.

I don't know what weather forecast your looking at but rain is only expected until late morning and then it should clear up after that

No, there are very good chances of rain until the evening hours. So there will be a wet track the whole day.

Silly for people to blabber on about bias when they don't know the facts. Then again people blabbering on about their German bias are more than likely Hamilton fans thinking "wah wah wah I want Hamilton to drive it's more important that he drives he's a better driver he's my favourite driver I want Hamilton to drive this isn't fair Mercedes hate Hamilton wah wah wah" and other such nonsense.

It's funny to moan about something you don't have the actual facts to. The moaning guys looking rather silly after Mercedes said it was Lewis decision not to drive. Sometimes we have to much information these days, nobody would have cared if Schumacher would have quit his test to be with his family. You would have got a short information in the news and that's it

What summer? Anyway, I know it's very wet, but shouldn't it be up to the teams as to whether they want to go out in really wet conditions, rather than whoever it is that's in charge? If they want to go out, let them.

Testing will apparently extend til thursday because today it's unlikely that someone will drive...

Edit: Until lunch nobody will head out. They will decide whether they continue today or aborted this day to drive instead on thursday.

It's a good point, however chances are that the teams would say "but it's too wet for the full wets" (don't get me wrong, I don't know what the track currently looks like, though if it was like Canada 2011 or Nurburgring 2007 where parts of the track were quite literally flooded then that's fair enough).

Must admit, part of me always hopes for rain at some races, yet the more I think about it, the more I want it to only rain on the Sunday (or quali) but only light rain, as basically once it gets to the point of having to use full wets, that's it, SC or red flag generally, which carries on until it's 'dry' enough for inters.

I have to agree that currently F1 has an aversion to running in the rain, and it has me gritting my teeth with frustration.  There was an Indy lights race recently which was running in conditions that would have had F1 drivers complaining about zero visibility, safety cars, red flags.

This has now extended to testing - as has been pointed out, Pirelli wet tyres are utterly undertested, and probably unnecessary as they won't run in the conditions to test them.

Further contributions to the demise of F1, as it gives the impression that these prima donnas are too good, too precious, to risk getting themselves wet.  It also increases the doubt about their alleged status as "the best drivers" - if they were, they'd be out their, in the wet, racing.

With the engine costs going up and the cost of aero work increasing (more detailed wings for example) nobody will risk binning an engine or aero package in the rain. I do not think that it is the drivers who are complaining but the teams not wanting the expense if tests are just to confirm their expectations from windtunnel and computer data. Imagine McLaren destroying another front wing or Honda engine on the 5th lap thanks to aquaplaning with a rookie....

Yep I'm amazed they are not using this to run tests on the full wets, but as you say its proof that F1 just isn't going to run them anymore. They are only needed at safety car speed. Its sad - we probably won't see a race like Silverstone 2008 again (I think that was the last which was so wet throughout with no intervention from the SC?).

These are the best drivers in the world (supposedly); they should be revelling at the chance to show their skills in conditions where ability can transcend the speed of the car.

Not to mention the poor fans who pay lots of money to get soaked and then just watch them trundling behind a Safety Car.

Just to respond to a couple of posts:

Agree re basically no point in full wets even being produced as quali they don't really want to use them if they can avoid it and in the race they're only there for helping clear the track when it's really wet.

Silverstone 2008 I think we'll never see that again. If we got those exact same conditions this year at Silverstone then we'd either get no race (unlikely) or a safety car race until either 75% race distance then a red flag (more likely) or a safety car race in the hope it stopped raining, then only bringing it in when it's basically time for inters (usually happens so very likely).

One thing that bugs me though is they say "oh but I can't see, it's dangerous, there's too much spray" etc, yet 30 years ago they were driving round in conditions worse than what we see at times nowadays without whinging. Nowadays anything other than a damp track or a track requiring more than inters and it's "stop the race, too much spray, I can't see even behind the safety car" etc.

If that Williams solution is legal, every other team will have one in place by Hungary. The benefit must be enormous.

Or even Silverstone. Doesn't look like the hardest winglet to make and no crush tests required for this.

Official confirmation - today's test will continue until 8pm tonight. That gives the teams just over four more hours of running today. Presumably, this news means that the test will not continue until Thursday, as previously thought.
