Gustav Büsing died this morning at Paris.

 

Maybe not really known outside Germany , he was a versatile motoring/motorsports  journalist  and the voice of Endurance Racing on TV (in the last years Eurosport), and no coverage without him of Le Mans was complete--he even commentated this year there..He started in politics, then moved on to Motorsport. He was the pressman for the Formula 1 Sauber Team, when they started. He wrote many books, and maybe the Porsche trilogy of Boschen/Büsing, later Barth /Büsing is known outside Germany, because it was translated to English too (David Bull).

I have only just seen this. How very sad.

 

He was one of the few truly great German motorsports journalists, and came across as a man of rare decency.

maybe this is of some consolation: he commented for Eurosport on Saturday at Le Mans, and felt unwell on Sunday. Was brought to Le Mans Hospital and afterwards helicoptered to Paris ,already in coma..

 

On his agenda was one week later the Austrian GP. So he did until his last minute exactly what he liked most...

Good point--I think there were six(1989-94)??  In collaboration with Eurosport--unthinkable of today!!
