The poll is at 100% for No at the moment.

Sorry about ruining the perfect score! The question isn't specifically about the one hour race (which I agree is a silly idea), but I would definitely like the qualifying format to be altered. If not all of it then at least Q3 to give us viewers a chance to watch all the drivers give it all. One-lap wasn't all bad.

Yeah I'm scared too...

The poll question doensn't match the topic. Some people may think the current system should be altered, but not necessarily with a 1 hour Saturday race. I think the question should be "Should the starting grid for a GP be determined by a 1 hour Saturday race?"

Think of the children for petes sake, poor LouLou is bored with the same format for the last 9 years and if they don't change then he just couldn't take it.

An idea like sprint/qualy race on Saturday is obviously aimed to attract more viewers - just shows that F1's decision makers are only concerned with increasing the revenues, not improving the product.
Up will go GP hosting fees, Saturday ticket prices and TV advertising slots.

Hear hear, they have been screwing around since 2002 there has been no consistency and what has it brought? I really liked the old 1 hour format, it just needed a little tweak to make the first couple of minutes more entertaining to watch.

I think it's quite clear from looking at the poll results that they will implement these proposed changes..

i just don't understand all the nonsense ideas these days. Like, how they are always going on about cutting costs, but then introduce a new turbocharged V6 or whatever that will cost a lot more to develope than what they already have, makes them slower and makes the cars sound awful. I mean, how can you save costs when you have new rules every year and have to develop new stuff that is ultimately unnecessary and will be gone the next year.
The only thing they need to do is make it so that the cars can follow each other closely. That's it. No DRS, no KERS, no F ducts, double/triple/quadruple diffusers.

What kind of tweak specifically, though? I remember many sessions from that era going for 55 minutes with some backmarkers venturing out, banker laps for everyone else and chaos in the last 5 minutes. That's what the knockout qualifying addresses, it forces drivers to go out in each and every session they're in.

I agree, I enjoyed the 1 hour sessions but I think the current format is the best. The 1 hour sessions, the track got faster and drivers were putting in laps and often getting the car improved for the best lap near the end. Exceptions to this were when the weather changed and the circuit became slower owing to rain or track temperature. Drivers had 4 hot laps if I recall correctly? (Outlap, hot lap, inlap all counted to the allocation of 12). In the current format we usually see two "proper laps" in both Q2 and Q3 from each driver, sometimes more depending on how Q1 goes.
I enjoyed the single lap qualifiers too, focusing on a driver as they went all the way round. That's the aspect I miss from the 1 hour session the most. It was corrupted by the rules regarding race fuel though.
