Just a little analysis of the lap time when the rain set in (first rain lap until pit stops of Hamilon & Vettel in lap 43):
Hamilton
38 1:49.338
39 1:49.591
40 1:43.748
41 1:43.864
42 1:41.184
Rosberg
38 1:48.709
39 1:47.629
40 1:42.769
41 1:41.895
42 1:39.183
Massa
38 1:47.451
39 1:48.212
40 1:45.684
41 1:44.245
42 1:42.580
Bottas
38 1:48.684
39 1:49.349
40 1:45.638
41 1:42.971
42 1:42.893
Vettel
38 1:47.698
39 1:44.427
40 1:41.630
41 1:41.652
42 1:42.314
Kimi
38 P 1:49.653
39 2:06.361
40 1:48.769
41 1:50.433
42 1:48.774
Excluding Kimi if we look at the drivers who were all on the same tires (Vettel on older ones, but deg was not too high) we get the following:
Vettel fastest
Rosberg 2.46s slower
Hamilton 10.00s slower
Massa 10.45s slower
Bottas 11.81s slower
Looking at it this way, Vettel's podium is not only the result of getting the pit stop timing right (pitting one lap earlier than Massa and Bottas), but going 2 seconds / lap faster than his competition bar Rosberg.
