That is a surprise but then so was Carl Shafer's a decade ago.

Well Carl and He can now strip gears from Chevy trannies in that big race track in the sky.

John owned, but never raced, the Sir Jackie Stewart L & M Lola as well.

Please do add on to this tidbit.

No mention of his dad in the news of his passing either. Shame.

RIP John.

Saw him at Le Mans 76, the rumble of the Corvette was awsome past the pits , still with me nearly forty years on

I remember seeing him on the banking at Daytona in the early 70's.  We were astounded he was keeping pace with the big Porsches and Ferraris.  He was top 5 for a while I think, but then had to retire the car. My Dad kept saying it's basically a Can-Am car with a Corvette body which I knew was not really true.  He sure opened my eyes (and many others) to the Corvette!  RIP JG

It makes you wonder how things would have turned out had the Chevrolet effort that was behind the Monza had gone to Greenwood.

I remember reading, I think in Vette magazine an an article or editorial, thirty years ago, by Greenwood where he said he was Chevrolet's least favorite son. The Owen Corning team being the chosen ones at that time and it never got any better so he finally just got tired of it all and quit racing.

Although if I remember correctly in the same piece he was considering coming back with the later Corvette .

Me too! Plus, of course the splendid Stars and Stripes GT Corvettes in 1972 and 1973
