Just a short note to friends of South African motorsport....it is with sadness that we wish to inform you that Peter de Klerk left us last night (10 july 2015). Peter was one of the leading lights during the golden era of South African motorsport and also competed in world championship F1 races and at the Le Mans 24H.
Peter de Klerk RIP

One of the select band to race a car he built himself. It took Ferrari to beat him at the 1963 Rand GP. Qualified right next to Jim Clark. RIP.

Probably the most assuming racer I ever had the pleasure of meeting, and what a racer he was!

I saw him in Late January or Early February this year and he was not looking well at all. When I met up with him he was chatting to David Piper at the Zwartkops Historic meeting.
Sad..

Oh no....
My favourite ZA driver, a boyhood hero for me. And what a nice man too.
Condolences to friend and family.
R.I.P Peter.
