Wanna do something fun 'til Indycar starts and the World Series by Renault race over at the Red Bull Ring ends? (also WTCC but whatever)

You're in luck - there's this little 2 hour 40 minutes race about to get underway at the beloved vintage Mosport Park.

I urge all you Indy faithfuls and WEC faithful to watch and savor a nice Sunday sportscar race.

I even canceled a date to just chill at home with some much needed racing. That is dedication.

Coverage starts NOW - 12pm ET, Fox Sports 1 or you can watch it the legal nigerian way here: http://www.imsa.com/camera/imsatv

You mean someone else is actually watching this race? Blimey

Prediction: #90 and #911 to take the win

Wow, I didn't know anyone else on here watched this series. :p I never miss a race--maybe it's time to start some threads for it on a regular basis?

The best part is, IMSA has its own Nigerians: WATCH THE RACE RIGHT HERE!

Anyone that says they want to watch an entire race onboard can come and watch TUSC and see how impossible it is to follow

Welcome Sheep. Hope you'll enjoy the race.

Earl Bamber, hmmm, that name rings a bell but I'm not sure.

I think he won a minor race in France this year. Nothing else apart from that. Must be a pay driver ;) :p
I like the track, I'm not sure if I've seen a race round here before.

Oh F, of course the one race the 60 has a good shot at the win, it's Barbosa they're fighting against. Please don't let there be any nutcase moves in traffic. :stoned:

You should definitely check back in the 30th of August 'cause Nascar trucks are gonna go racing around this place. Much fun to be had. Especially if the likes of Max Papis and Tagliani show their mugs.

Ah I remember that you are #60 fan when you went marshaling at Sebring. I love how that car looks.

Yeah, the car I watched demolish itself about 100 feet up the road from my station. :stoned: Hope dies last, I guess, lol.

Totally correct. When I tuned in for the Conti race yesterday I was like, 'This is the most beautiful track I've seen since Indycars at Barber'.

Love sportscar racing, but as long as Nascar, sorry TUSC persists in hobbling proper P2's so their dinosaur FUGLY cars formerly known as Daytona prototypes can win every time then they can go suck donkey...

You could still watch the GTs,

I keep having chuckles when I remember Bamber crashing into Tandy at the Daytona 24 Hours. Now they are Le Mans winners. Awesome.

Compare the times to ALMS, Mr Conspiracy. Sorry, but P2 teams are hobbling themselves with their crappy driver lineups.

Last year Oak showed just how superior the Ligier was. Shank just isn't good enough.

Well the 4 manufacturers signed to built the prototypes for 2017 seems like steps in the right direction.

Four manufacturers, and a limit of 600 hp. Viable engines include the Chevy crate motor currently in the back of the Corvette DP's (the idea of a Ligier roasting down the front-straight at Sebring with the awe-inspiring roar of a Corvette lagging slightly behind it from the speed is an oddly tantalising one), current turbo V6s, an Audi V10, and more. Unlike in Europe, aero kits are allowed. I can't wait, personally. :D

And the 17 is in the pits. Seems like that's their day done.

The problem for me is that they are going to BoP EVERYTHING. It might aswell be a spec class.

Well, I can't complain too much, seeing as in Europe it basically is a spec class. I'll take variety and BoP over no variety and no BoP (a la LMPC).

And Cameron is catching Taylor at a rate of knots. Here we go! :D

The engine will be spec. There will be 4 different chassis. No BoP.

e. nice finish

Did I see the the good old Deltawing trundling around?  You have to give it to them for persistence with a proven bad idea.

Nice to see Mosport again - doesn't look much different to when I was there for the GP in the 1970s.

Fun ending, just like at Laguna Seca. I honestly dig this series spec/BoP and all.

Of course you won't need BoP if four chassis built to roughly the same spec are all running the same engine. And the ACO/FIA have already stated they're going to employ BoP anyway when the US teams come to Le Mans to equalise them with the Euro P2s. It's part of the class now, worldwide, like it or not.

BoP had nothing to do with the awesome battle for the lead we just witnessed. You can still get great racing with it. It's not a be-all-end-all solution, but it's a good way to ensure that the $$$ stay in the sport as long as the economy is still struggling, and the drivers seem to enjoy fighting each other in roughly equal cars. I'd prefer the series to not have BoP as well--hey, I'd prefer it if P2 just adopted the LMP1-L rules--but I'm not naive enough to think that we're missing some sort of amazing spectacle by choosing to use it.

Two more years, and it'll be better than what we've got now. Promise.  ;)

It is and has been for quite some time.

IF the current DPs were not hp limited, as they always have been, they would embarrass the P2 cars.

Why the do not create their own GT class similar to what got the IMSA off the ground is a myst... no wait then the GTs would embarrass the DPs.

Oh well.

That's why this is my favourite series at the moment, even when the racing isn't as good, It's still enjoyable to watch good looking cars (GTLM) on old school tracks, the only race I won't bother watching will be at COTA. Also some good coverage for me on Motors TV and now with the online streaming aswell makes it even easier to follow. Nice to know other people here watching it too

I forgot Tudor was running this weekend.  I'm not a fan of the homely DPs, particularly since my favorite team, Gainsco, isn't running anymore.  I get my GT kicks from Blancpain and PWC these days.

I hope the series succeeds, I just don't have the interest I used to.

Surely you had a better view of the DPs at Long Beach. I find that the television cameras tend not to do them justice and that they're considerably more agile in person. Maybe it's the holy thunder of that V8 mated to the low, white streak of the front-mounted LEDs that the TV doesn't quite capture correctly.

Prefer the look of the LMPs, though, and really hope that at least one team plugs the Chevy crate motor into the back of a next-gen P2, if only to prove that madmen still have a place in racing.

EDIT: By the way, I'll be attending the series' next race at Road America. Will be spectating rather than working, as I've never been to Road America before and have been waiting a very long time for the opportunity to make the trip and see the track. Will have to make sure I get a thread up for that one; maybe we'll have a weekend where we don't moan about what's wrong with sportscars for a change.

There's been lots of changes, mainly for the better. The grandstands in front of the pit straight and end of back straight are gone, as well as the pit garages. But the whole place has been neatened up, it's turned into a very nice place to spend a weekend. Quality camping accommodations, very well maintained. I was there in the 70's too, and the new owners have made the place very family-friendly and a lot nicer.

Gonna be there for the NASCAR trucks, can't wait.

You gotta do that.

I can't really find anything to complain about. This series is comfy as f***.

Was there on sat to watch Quali, Katherine Legge was epic down thru corner two. The delta wing looked so twitchy! She showed total commitment!

Ricky Taylor was visibly the quickest at that portion of the track.  The DP's are not as ugly as I thought they would be. GLM cars are only a few secs a lap slower.

Oh that is so true though, they are powerful racecars. When you feel the ground shake and get punched in the face by the wake, it gets your attention. Those sensations cannot get translated to TV.  Any racing is better when you're right there.

Given how ugly LMP cars have now become, the DPs are starting to look positively elegant.  And you did have the Deltawing there, which makes pretty much anything else look good.
