I'll be brutally honest, I can't remember the Coletti/Kimball incident all that well, so I couldn't reasonably comment. I have nothing against Karam personally, and I think if he can calm it down a bit he's a promising talent and an asset to the series.

That's what IndyLights are for. He may have raw talent, which is what Ganassi thinks apparently, but raw talent isn't race craft, these are big cars, long races and experienced drivers he's up against, with little to no experience in properly setting up a car. And he's all of what, 19 years old? I'll spot him this last race, but I'm hoping that he's learned that if he has a loose car, and he's stuck on the bottom, he'll think twice about shoving the outside guy up into the wall.

I think he did Indylights? And Mazdas, and F2000. But he drives like someone who came out of Europe highly rated but hasn't raced an oval before.

But he's literally raced at places like IRP.

I won't disagree with you there; he needs to learn quickly.

He won Indy Lights! It was a bit embarrassing because Ganassi evidently had some reservations about whether he was ready for Indycar, but, like, where do you put him?

Am I mistaken, or didn't Karam cause the Briscoe crash at Fontana?  He chopped down on RHR who collected Briscoe, non?

Oh, he won alright, in a year when only 7 cars made every race.

True -- but he also beat Munoz, Hawksworth and Chaves that year (as a rookie). None of those is going to be the next Mario or Michael, but they've all got it in them to be Indycar winners one day. It was a weak grid but a surprisingly competitive one.

Argh! What a boring hedge.

You're correct, but he had some good races in the larger Star Mazda field in 2012 (although Hawksworth\Team Pelfrey dominated most of the season). Ovals were definitely Karam's strong suit in the ladder series, he won at Iowa like 4 times.

Edit: here's the 2012 Star Mazda race at Iowa -
