Chinetti made some record runs at Montlhery in August 1935 - I think at least one was successful. The car was an 8C Alfa, perhaps the one owned by his client, Gastaud, whom he had co-driven with at Le Mans that year. I believe Motorsport had both a preview of the runs and a follow up article afterwards in consecutive issues. Can anyone provide more details?

Many thanks.

This is the report from Motor Sport, September 1935, p508, Continental Notes and News:

I can't find a preview in a previous issue, though.

I also found nothing close to a preview in the 3 months before September. Could it be a confusion with an article mentioning Alfa-Romeo and Montlhéry in the same space, though  not about the record attempt but about the possibility of participation in the Grand Prix de l'ACF, published in the July issue, page 391? (I am afraid I am unable to paste the scan here).

The August issue, on the other hand, has a reference to another attempt at Montlhéry by George Eyston and Albert Denly in a Hotchkiss - which could be another source of a possible  confusion.

By the way and for the sake of curiosity, my edition (DVD) has the article in Vitesse's post on page 506. Different edition? Or just a typo?

Presumably, the 1,000 miles would have been completed shortly before the end of the ninth hour.

Gentlemen, Many thanks. The car in question was not the Alfa used at Le Mans in 1935. It was an open wheel car with a modified nose and lights added. It seems the original driver lineup was Sommer, Chinetti and Pesato and the attempt was to be made in July. For some reason, it was postponed and when it was resumed in August the pilots were Chinetti, Pesato, Raph and Bodoignet.
