Clearly it shows an attention to balance and stability, like any good racing driver.  :p

I haven't seen Danica posing for those kind of photos in a few years. She's certainly proven herself a serious racer. When she left Indycar she was top driver in points in her team, though I haven't kept track of her NASCAR adventures.

That happened earlier. In her last year in Indycar (2011), she finished behind 2 of her 3 teammates in points, though all 3 of them won a race that year. Her best finish was 5th.

Yes you're right. She had certainly proved herself a respectable driver though.

I think the reasons gay people are not invovled in racing are similar to some ethnic groups. They are simply not interested, so you do not get large swathes of those types of people watching, spectating etc.

Sorry man, I am involved in racing, many kinds actually. And I have some of "my people" (to use your type of words) racing as well.

There are probably just as many gay people in racing as there are in the general population. Assuming they're willing to tolerate some 'old fashioned views'. Apart from that, there aren't cultural reasons why they wouldn't be interested in it.

What I mean is, that gay people are not singled out or made a "fuss" of as they are in things like rugby or cricket by the media.

It's actually quite refreshing to think there are countless gay race fans and drivers and no fuss is made, no extra exposure is sought as it might be in other sports.

Then I'm more with you. I do think the fuss will be made, the first time an openly gay racing driver gets in F1 or an equivalent series however. Sadly.

That's right. Don't ask, don't tell, don't make a "fuss" of it. — Now, Camera Four, could we please have the umpteenth closeup of Mrs Rosberg in the garage? :smoking:

:rotfl:  Yeah, pretty much.

If there are gay racing drivers who are able to be open about who their partner is and bring them to races as support the way everyone else does, then they're so far from the public spotlight they're the racing equivalent of a sunday league player, or maybe conference division north.

Nice article about Leena Gade.  But I finished the whole thing in 20 minutes flat.

Thing is, for drivers to get "up there" you need sponsorship, and I do know that many choose to "live a lie" to get a bigger chance of sponsorship. They are afraid that stating "I am gay" will ruin every chance in motorsport.

Been quite some time since there was discussion of Mouton's comments or the response from Jorda. As even the opening poster now seems more interested in why gay people may or may not be fans of, or drivers in, motorsport, I am closing this.
