Sadly I announce that Buddy Baker, legenday NASCAR driver, died today of lung cancer. He had given already his farewell to his public on his usual report on NASCAR some weeks ago, when he announced he had innomeprable cancer. R.I.P.

Sorry to see this. He was easy to like and root for.
Been too many of these thread announcements around here lately. RIP

He was one of my favorite drivers, a soft-spoken giant with a lead foot. I really liked the man.

Buddy was at his best on the real superspeedways (Daytona and Talladega) before restrictor plates took the blend of skill and courage out of the game. I had the privelege to see him win the Daytona 500 in 1980 at an average speed of 177 mph, a record for Daytona's classic that stands to this day.
