Hi all,

Just wondered if I could get your help, I'll be holidaying in Italy soon and wondered if it's worth paying a visit to Maranello?

Is there a tour you can do, lots to see? What did you make of it if you've been?

Any tips appreciated

For any Motorsport fan, but especially Ferrari fans visiting Marranello is well worth it. Its like a little Ferrari Disneyland.

Their is a Ferrari Museum about 500m from the factory front gates that constantly changes its exhibits, and never disappoints. http://museomaranello.ferrari.com/#

Loads of F1, Ferrari and Motorsport memorabilia shops kicking around with often rare models, books, artworks, car parts etc etc that are hard to find else where.

Their is also places offering short test drives in various Ferraris and Lambo's for pretty decent prices compared to elsewhere ( my buddy and me did a 60 min drive together in the same car that worked out about for around £100 each at that time, but it was a real blast and well worth the money.  We found some quiet roads near by and drove as fast as we dared,   :rotfl: ) .... http://www.pushstart.it/en

If you get lucky you might also catch some Ferrari road cars or prototypes testing on the Fiorano circuit which is about 500 to 700m from the factory main gates ( you can view from various places, a bridge on the main road is a common place and easy to find (sadly the days of Ferrari F1 cars pound around day after day are long gone).

I also enjoined hanging out beside the factory side gate for an hour or two where the Ferrari test drivers exit from and return to on their road test drives (every car the factory builds gets road tested before delivery), and also trying to spot the prototype mules being developed...

Also make sure you book lunch or dinner while visiting (or both :p ). My recommendation would be the Ristorante Montana ( a favorite of Schumi when he was in Marranello im told), it has a homely atmosphere and food is amazing.  http://www.ristorantemontana.it/

But also right across from the factories front gate their is the Il Cavallino restaurant which is famous in Ferrari history. It has lots of car parts and memorabilia decorating it and also fabulous food...http://www.ristorant...lino.it/home-2/

If aliens from another world stopped down on Earth and said "show me where your best cars are" you would have to take them to Maranello.

So yes, go.  And post pics for us here

It still is frequented by Ferrari staff and drivers. The team celebrated the Hungary win there:

As a resident of Woking, I wish it was the McLaren equivalent of Maranello. We do have a Burger King and a McDonald's though.
