The drivers are tough for me:

Maybe Prost and Graham Hill but also maybe Hakkinen.

Car definitely the Tyrrell P34- I think it was one of the most clever ideas F1 has seen and I would have loved to see it develop.

I don't know about you guys, but my dream scenarios don't involve utmost dominance. Dominance more often than not results in boredom and predictability. Look no further than these past two seasons.

For awesomeness, I think the best combination is terrific drivers in less than dominant but winning cars. But I do always consider them in their primes.

Say Raikkonen and Keke Rosberg in the RE40 with Frank Williams and Brawn running the show.

or

Hakkinen and Hamilton in the 1986 MP4-2C.

There were some good duels between Sebastien and Paul. Must see tv. I still miss the Cart/Champ Car days. Champ Car was the last racing series i followed here in America.

Vettel and Schumacher on the FW14B and the rest of the Williams crew in charge.

All of the performance, none of the driving egos. It'd be utterly boring but good luck challenging them.

In my opinion, Enzo Ferrari was not mentioned because he never played a role of team manager in Formula One. He was the Boss, the man behind all Ferrari's racing activities as well as the whole company.

My dream teams would be about seeing drivers from "my" time compared to each other in the same car, just because I'm curious. :)

Alonso and Kimi in the Mclaren MP4-20. To see how Alonso compared to Kimi in the same car, in a car that Kimi claims suited his style perfectly, and when Kimi was considered at his peak. I would still bet on Alonso, but most importantly, we would get an answer once and for all. :)

Or, Alonso and Schumi in the 2007 Ferrari, to see how awesome that car REALLY was, and an EPIC battle between the two. :smoking:

Another fun one would be Mika and Schumi in the same car. Let's say a 97 Williams just to choose a car that no one of them drove. I'm pretty sure Schumi would win, but it would be very interesting to see how Mika compared speed wise in the same car.

And a final one: Alonso and Hamilton part II in the 2016 Mercedes.

Tangentially related, but there's an interview with Alain Prost out there talking about his time as a team principal. He basically regretted the whole endeavor but he mentioned that he was in talks early in 1994 with Ayrton about having him as a driver for a future team of his own. Imagine that, if Senna ended up driving and winning in a car owned by Prost...

My dream team:

Car: Lotus 79

Engine: 1995 Ferrari V12

Drivers: MSC and Clark

Team Principal: Jean Todt

I can only imagine that at some point that would've sparked a fallout of Alonso/Dennis proportions...

When they weren't direct rivals on the track they really seemed to be getting along quite well. I'm sure Senna would have put pressure on Prost to abandon Peugeot engines for something more competitive, which would have caused all kinds of tension amongst the french portion of the team, but I think if the car was at least somewhat competitive it would have been a successful experiment.

Pretty sure you're getting a car that will win nothing, no matter who drives it.

BMW required at least 200 liters if not much more of fuel for a race distance, MP4/4 could only store 150 liter at the most.

MP4/4 was designed to run with a power figure of 680 at the very most in qualifying. No way the BMW could finish a GP in the shape (I suspect)  you selected it for: Producing 140+dB of of screaming noise and 950+ hp. If the BMW is prepped to race with 150 liters of fuel only, good chance it has litttle to nothing to offer of all attractions that made you select that engine.

A number of chassis-engine combinations dreamed up in this thread would never ever work togeter to begin with.

But that's probably why this is a thread about `dreams` .

Ok, here is another fantasy of mine:

Ferrari 639 with the Matra V12.

I know this won't make sense to anyone else but it works just fine in my twisted world.

Edit: Of course John Barnard would be Technical Director.

I understand your sentiment entirely.

Back to the topic, what if Webber and Mansell were paired with the FW14B. Think about it. Speed, drama and rough racing.

It'd be a lot of fun.
