After we already have our dream F1 teams it is time to do the same for the grid.

Which is your all time dream F1 grid? Including drivers and teams?

Im recommending at least 10 teams a 2 drivers. But do it like you want to ;)

This was the best I could do in 15 minutes. I tried to fit all drivers into teams they actually drove for, but at the end had to put the 3 Finnish guys in the 3 available slots (Raikkonen, Hakkinen and Rosberg are the only I put into teams they never drove for, unless I missed something):

Ferrari: Alberto Ascari / Gilles Villeneuve

McLaren: Ayrton Senna / James Hunt

Williams: Nigel Mansell / Alain Jones

Lotus: Jim Clark / Emerson Fittipaldi

Brabham: Nelson Piquet / Keke Rosberg

Renault: Alain Prost / Fernando Alonso

Mercedes: Stirling Moss / Lewis Hamilton

Tyrrell: Jackie Stewart / Jody Scheckter

Benetton: Michael Schumacher / Mika Hakkinen

Cooper: Jochen Rindt / Jack Brabham

Red Bull: Sebastian Vettel / Kimi Raikkonen

March: Niki Lauda / Ronnie Peterson

Alfa Romeo: Juan Manuel Fangio / Nino Farina

Few notes:

- picked 13 teams as that's the maximum a grid should hold. Not necessarily the most competitive ones ever, but it's thereabouts. March's a bit random but fits the drivers.

- Sorry for Graham Hill, Mario Andretti and possibly someone else I'm forgetting but you have to cut off at some point. Dad Hill possibly was better than a few on this grid but I was a little biased for drivers I sympathise with, like Raikkonen.

- Not sure if I'm correct but I believe Vettel/Kimi, Lauda/Peterson, Fangio/Farina are the only duos on this list who actually drove as team-mates.

- Lotus represents the Colin Chapman team, and Renault represents the 1970s/1980s French team not the Enstone team who is in the list as Benetton - even if Alonso drove for the Enstone team in real life.

- Jack Brabham drives vs his own team!

- I reckon the spiciest duo is Schumacher-Hakkinen, and the strongest possibly Prost-Alonso.. not sure who would win that one. Mansell-Jones under typical 80s Williams management has every chance to end in a horrible meltdown of egos, too. Wonder how Senna and Hunt would get along, too.

- In the mid of all this my money's on Jim Clark quietly winning the championship with everyone else too entertained with politics and internal fights! I'd pay to watch this season!

So just 20 people to fill out the grid? Does it matter who is teamed with who? I think this will basically be just a list of the "top 20 drivers". Anyway, here's mine

Lotus-Cosworth

Michael Schumacher

Jim Clark

Williams-BMW

Ayrton Senna

Fernando Alonso

Mercedes

Alain Prost

JM Fangio

Renault

Jochen Rindt

Gilles Villeneuve

Jaguar

Mario Andretti

Alberto Ascari

Alfa Romeo

Lewis Hamilton

Sebastian Vettel

Mclaren

Niki Lauda

Mika Hakkinen

BRM

Emmo Fittipaldi

Stirling Moss

Tyrell

Jackie Stewart

John Surtees

Ferrari (less rational, more personal)

Dan Ricciardo

Jean Alesi

At least 20 drivers (10 teams). So more are possible ;)

Some people are choosing the best drivers and try to fit them. Some others want certain driver pairings at certain teams. Like you want ;)

I've got a few 'Dream' scenarios in my head so I'll start with this one:

Car: McLaren MP4/4

Engine: 1986 Honda RA166-E

Drivers: Ayrton Senna and Gilles Villenueve

Bringing back the importance of qualifying with 14 teams and 28 drivers competing for 26 spots.

Ferrari (Ferrari) - A. Prost / G. Villeneuve

McLaren (Mercedes) - A. Senna / M. Hakkinen

Williams (BMW) - L. Hamilton / J. Button

Team Lotus (Ford-Cosworth) - J. Clark / R. Peterson

Red Bull (Renault) - S. Vettel / D. Ricciardo

Mercedes (Mercedes) - J. M. Fangio / S. Moss

Brabham (BMW) - J. Brabham / N. Lauda

Renault (Renault) - F. Alonso / E. Fittipaldi

Benetton (Renault) - M. Schumacher / N. Piquet

Tyrrell (Ford-Cosworth) - J. Stewart / C. Reutemann

Alfa Romeo (Alfa Romeo) - A. Ascari / J. Rindt

BRM (Ford-Cosworth) - G. Hill / T. Brooks

Ligier (Ferrari) - K. Rosberg / K. Raikkonen

Minardi (Alfa Romeo) K. Kobayashi / N. Hulkenberg

2004 level V10 engines in as close as you can get to late-80s cars with safety improvements. The engines (Ferrari, Ford, Mercedes, BMW, Renault and Alfa Romeo) are pretty equally matched.

Gilles and Jacques V for Scuderia Ferrari. Kinda like the Andretti father/son team in CART.

Honestly, though, I would watch the hell out of that series. It sounds absolutely magnificent. Super Aguri would walk it.

Originally it was Inoue/Baumgardner at Andrea Moda until Deltraz came into play, then i remembered Sospri so i shoved him into the Life...

HOW COULD WE FORGET THE TRACKS?

I don't feel like making a schedule atm, so these tracks I will dot down.

Tracks for the series:

Ceasers Palace

Dallas

Macau

Okayama

New Jersey

Cancun!

AVUS (with banking)

Monza double Circuit (oval and rc)

Phoenix

San Jose 2005

Taki's teammate needs to be DRACONE for maximum levels of hilarity.

I would totally watch this, though, maybe even more so than the collection of best-ever lists. It would make today's Indycar field look as if it were full of Michael Schumachers. :rotfl:

Speaking of Schumi, no-one's put him and Vettel on a team together yet?
