Mick Avery from Ripley, Surrey was a star-grade stock car driver in approx. 1971-2, before going to Geoff Rumble's DASTLE company and building Lord Hesketh's first F3 Dastle for James Hunt.   Mick later went to work for the ATS GP team.

Somewhere on this Forum I saw a 'Mick Avery' listed as truck driver for Colin Bennett's Lotus team.

Does Mick Avery's name ring any bells?  Can anyone suggest a possible source?

Thanks!

I remember him being mentioned in an article from a truck magazine which followed Williams to Monza in 81. I think it said he drove the transporter for ATS.

I spent some time with Colin Bennett Racing in Warrington between leaving school and starting college. He worked there, also as the truckIe. Nice bloke, I recall.

Thank you!

One of his Mick Avery's exploits with Geoff Rumble's DASTLE cars was to go on a Midget tour of Jamaica; I think that even posh Antony 'Bubbles' Horsley went along to race.  Someon else told me Mick may have moved to the US. :)
