I have a picture of a lotus eleven i am restoring it has been cut out of a magazine so i do not know which magazine the heading is
TRENDS IN AUTO RACING  THE PICTURE HAS ALFRED WOOLF BELOW IT. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE EARLY PART OF 1956 AS THE CAR WAS SHIPPED OUT TO RUN AT SEBRING .Any one know which mag it would have been featured in.
andy bradshaw sorry i have tried to load the cutting to this post but failed.

The most likely magazine was the British edition of Sports Cars Illustrated which was Edited by Alfred who, at the time, was also the public relations consultant to Lotus. Also the photographs might have been taken by John Ross who was chief photographer for Auto Course magazine at the time as he and I visited the Lotus factory and photographed the cars being prepared for Sebring. See below.

Andy, The photo caption certainly has a US-based ring to it with the use of "Trends of Auto Racing..." But if it was published in relation to Sebring 1956 then it most likely predates being published in the UK edition of SCI. That started with the August 57 issue.

You need to use something like postimage.org to be able to add the photo in question. Worth trying it to help further your search.

You might find a similar photo in Motor Sport. Their entire run has been digitally archived and is available on line.  I think it is still free.

Was this the same number plate as worn by the Chapman/Mackay Fraser car at Le Mans in 1956?  For that race it had a fullwidth windscreen, of course.
