Is that FI saying "Oh please, please, please, oh please" whilst on their knees with hands together

AM are investing in a new factory in Wales to build their new car. Being a small niche manufacturer without a major group backing them, where would they find funds to waste on F1 or FI.

Whatever happened to the deal with Johnny Walker? (Was it Johnny Walker? I know it was whisky) did that go down the pan with AM?
Nothing, but Diaego is still involved. Smirnoff just announced a 5 year extension worth 75 million dollars

Wouldn't it simply be a branding exercise? Team sponsorship, if you like. Aston won't be making any parts for the car. I think it kinda makes sense as Aston is 5% owned by Mercedes and do use Mercedes engines. So, as long as FI keep using Mercedes power there's some rhyme to their reason, even it seems a bit tenuous.

Yep, surprisingly it seems to be part of the deal that sees Mallya stepping down from the Diageo/Unit Spirits board and being enforced to have no involvment with them for the same period of time.

Today (Australian time) is the day Aston Martin announces its plans in F1. Yes, there still are some. Manufacturer power in F1 grows – but only a tiny little bit. Don’t expect anything with Force India. It is not happening with them. That idea went up in smoke along with Vijay Mallya’s trousers. Still, it was never a great marketing fit.
Ok...

It's now tomorrow (Australian time) and no sign of an announcement?

Everything he writes focuses on his pathological obsession with Mallya. He really is a shoddy journalist and quite tiresome.

Mallya aside it has been a very quiet offseason.
