Mercedes board rejects proposal to supply Red Bull with F1 engines

Now that this is firmly cemented, what if Ferrari too declines to supply them? Sergio Marchionne stated on the weekend they are allocating additional resources to the 2016 car to return to their winning ways.  If they are optimistic about their chances, why supply an equally funded team with a very good engine?  I think this may spell the end of Red Bull in F1 since using Honda power clearly isn't an option.
