Not much going on except for a red flag caused by Marciello deciding to kamikaze (or as they put it - "making small contact") into another car (they haven't said who).

kamikaze means wind that brings fertility to the region of Japan called Ise, which broadly includes Suzuka. also turned to refer to whatever happenstance like storm or whatever that work to benefit you. Hence adopted as name for one of dozens of special attack force fleets in wwii, usually names of military fleet, plane, ship etc come from location name or whatever already existing terms so it's just that "kamikaze" was no exception. Now, do kamikaze? what?
banzai as well merely means hooray. these things are all banzai exactly http://worldartsme.c...y-clipart-1.jpg https://www.emojibase.com/resources/img/emojis/hangouts/1f64c.png
so whenever anyone say banzai lap it's "hooray lap".
karaoke emoji tsunami are all correct and appropriate but banzai kamikaze not.

This is the kamikaze I was referring to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamikaze
Elsewhere, Markelov leads the field.

Still absolutely bugger all is going on at the moment, save for a red flag for van Buuren.

Testing draws to a close with Gustav Malja topping the times ahead of Markelov and Eriksson.
Here are my revised predictions for the season ahead:
ART to retain the Team's Champion title with Sirotkin taking the Driver's Championship.
DAMS, Trident, Campos, Russian Time, MP and maybe Carlin and Arden to be cases of teams with one driver bringing in the points while the other lags behind.
Prema could have a shot at the podium or win.

Binder, apparently.

Yeah it's funny how Kamikaze has come to mean a move of desperation rather than something closer to 'act of god' that helps you.
Though if you called a move that didn't come off a Hail Mary, it'd nicely overlap all of them.

What actually happened then?

It says small contact. I just wondered why you think he went full 'kamikaze' & thought you might know more.

Prema is one of the most experienced team out there.
They poached Guillaume Capietto who is historical ARt GP technical director + Jonathan Moury who was one of the Top man at RBM BMW for a bit of time.....
The only setback i can see for them is pit stop.
But in terms of engineering they are as good as ART or Dams right now.
To me Sirotkin is not a safe bet as it looks.

I don't think you can put them at the same level as DAMS and ART. They will be instantly competative, and challenge for poles and wins, but I don't think they will do it as consistently.

This is why i mentionned pit stop.
But i think they have enough data and know how.

Latifi joins the ever-growing list of Renault test drivers, and will get to take part in at least one FP1 session this year: http://beta.autospor...ting-for-latifi

At least he's more suited to the role than Carmen 'eye-candy' Jorda.

Well you pay a ton of money to race up to and through GP2, then get outbid by an oil company for the F1 seats that are left by then.
With that kind of model, no wonder the fields in European feeder series are thinning out.

Why would anyone be surprised?
£2m to drive an old car, when if you wait 12 months you can drive a brand new car, with brand new hybrid engines for half the price...

And even if you dominate the series, you won't reach F1. You would have to be mad.

Disheartening seeing just one Carlin out there. Also, I hope Prema will do a good job this year. And I'll keeping a close eye on Lynn this year.
Hey, Evans, psssst, come to WEC kid...

Evans is only mucking around in GP2 this year because he's being paid to mentor Sean Gelael.

It'll be interesting to see if Lynn's racecraft has improved any - it'll have to if he's to make any real assault on the championship. His sprint races in GP3 were far from convincing, and crashing into Sirotkin at Monza, never mind crashing out of the lead in Russia while under zero pressure, show there is still work to be done there.
However well Lynn has done on paper in the last couple of years I've always found him ever so slightly.....unimpressive. Clumsy wheel-to-wheel and lacking the spark that Gasly showed last season. Very capable, don't get me wrong, but somehow nothing he's done has convinced me he's an F1 star in the making. Gasly, despite his team change, is looking pretty good.
Artem Markelov has improved every year so far, proper slow burner but still only very young and with a good team behind him. I'd like to see him get a win. He reminds me of Jean-Eric Vergne for some reason.

Regarding the identity of Carlin's second driver, there are many names I think could fit the bill:
Tio Ellinas (if he has the funding and no previous engagements) - since he isn't racing in Formula 3.5
Countless names from last year's FR2.0 line-ups that aren't taking part this year (if they have the funding and don't have other commitments)
#644

I don't think there'll be a second Carlin driver...

i think there a rule that state teams must have 2 drivers so thus could be a last minute deal type thing, 9 days to go
