Rodolfo Gonzalez? Is he in the mix at Coyne?
Let's go ED! (the other one)

No, just felt like posting a random Mexican thing.
I see the Uruguayan fans are out in force.

Incredibly impressive? Negrão?
Don't think he was saying that when Negrao crashed on the pace lap at IMS.

Impressive start for Veach.

Pretty anonymous close to the season for Dean Stoneman. 15/38 laps completed.
Looks like I jinxed him too

Surprised that Carlin haven't told Serralles to move over for Ed Jones.

Looks like he's about to, umm, run wide.Surprised that Carlin haven't told Serralles to move over for Ed Jones.

Ed Jones is the 2016 Indy Lights champion, Urrutia 2nd and rookie of the year.
Posted 11 September 2016 - 22:35
Well, that's racing, folks. So be it. Everyone knew Seralles was going to pull over. But it's a bit like professional wrestling -- we're all in on what's going on, but the announcers remain oblivious.
Congrats to Jones and Carlin tho!!
Posted 11 September 2016 - 22:45
It's unfortunate to lose it like that when you won the most races. On the other hand, it's an 18 race season and every point counts. Urrutia lost quite a few through incidents (St Petersburg, Barber, Road America, IMS) and didn't get a long run in Watkins Glen practice which bit him in the race. Jones' better consistency paid off.

Pro Mazda race under caution for a crash involving Moises de la Vara. Telitz leading.
Posted 11 September 2016 - 22:52
Urrutia will be back. I would really like to see Rayhall get a full season too.
Posted 11 September 2016 - 22:59
Lots of drivers running wide in the opening laps here.
Posted 11 September 2016 - 23:25
O'Ward has destroyed his tyres, looks like Telitz will secure his first MRTI title here.
Indeed he does, also being the best rookie.

What it's shows for Felix to move aside and let Ed Jones through, it shows that he is a team player when it counts regardless of any disagreements and that could be something a team may look for in the future, someone who can play the team game and still be very fast. Sure Felix is looking out for his own hopes but he sacrificed his own result for his teammate who probably won't be around next year to help him out in return, even so Carlin played the numbers and this is how Carlin works, they give rookies the shot of the title with the best machinery and staff they can get and support one or both drivers should it come to the championship. No way Carlin was going to throw away a really good result and besides you win and lose as a team.
As for Santiago, There is no shame in losing the championship by 2 points, especially as a rookie, on the contrary it shows that Santiago has the talent in bags to become a superstar even if his ambitions have been stunted for a year, assuming he can get the funding to do it again. But Santiago will be up against Arron next year who won the Pro Mazda title, so we will see what comes of that next year.

He is just another driver who was mediocre in Europe but shines in the US ranks where the depth is not as deep
Those he goes up against are pretty competitive, just because he was out of his depth in Europe doesn't mean he doesn't have talent to show it elsewhere.
Posted 12 September 2016 - 09:17
So... do we think Carlin will upgrade themselves to a Indycar team in the off season? In some capacity?
I don't think so. Perhaps in collaboration to an existing team, but not as an own team. No money for that I think.
But would be nice...

Parker (when interviewed by Indycar UK) said a lot of sponsors came onboard from the "Drive to Stay Alive" campaign. In fact he credited that as a large part of how he got into racing to begin with.

Quite a bold proclamation considering he was 6th when he started missing races. In the thick of the championship battle, sure, but guaranteed? No, I don't think so.
