Might make things a bit easier for Harvick to dig out of the hole. Nothing like going from leading the points all year to dumped to 16th overnight. How the hissy fit progresses is a point of interest. ...

So.. I went into the AtlasF1/Autosport chat during Chicagoland race under the name of HarvickHex
The 4 race fans in there were saying how they were hexing this driver and hexing that driver.
I told them for the thousandth time... "It doesn't work like that !!! ..None of this works like that."
Next thing I know $hithead's in the wall and they were like...How The **** Did You Do That?
Wish some of you others were around to have witnessed that.
Speaking of that lil' hissy fit..

If the #4 is having a crappy race at Loudon, I wonder if the essence of Jimmie's Burnt Rub-air would be overcome by Harvick's Mace for the Chase.

Jumping in now.
I tried to watch the first round of the chase at chicagoland, but I fell asleep halfway through. What I did manage though was to understand the points system for the first time.
My only issue is that annoying swedish commentator when they show commercials elsewhere.

Gutted for Harvick. Biffle made it though.
And if somebody is willing to explain to me what Brad K. did different to Gordon's restart last weekend, please go ahead

Best case scenario is that NASCAR was waiting until someone it didn't want to win got into the gray area before starting to enforce restart rules. Worst case scenario is that NASCAR will continue selectively enforcing this rule, since selective enforcement of rules is the most powerful tactic of authoritarian entities.

Still don't really get what happened to BK. If he was on the accelerator a little early, well, that's what happens when you restart double-file?

Also, Tony Stewart is retiring after 2016
Cole Custer- #14 Bass Pro Shops Chevy for 2017 (you heard it here first )

David Scott at the Charlotte Observer is confirming Stewart to retire at the end of this season, not 2016. More on the reported Stewart to retire announcement http://www.charlotte...le36794163.html
The Observer is reporting Bowyer to the 14 next season. Custer is way not ready for Cup.
It looks like one presser on Tues to announce the two F1 drivers, and another across the parking lot the next day to announce the retirement from driving of one of the owners and the Bowyer deal.
The Observer has updated the story to what others are reporting. Stewart will retire post 2016 with Bowyer taking the seat in 2017. Sources say Bowyer will be at H Scott Racing for the 2016 season.

He's not been the same since the two sprint car incidents. Physical after-effects from the broken leg and psychological ones from the Kevin Ward incident are bound to take a huge toll.

I don't know, but those look like Gabrielle Anwar's D&G sunglasses.
Also, I don't know why I would post a comment like that one. It must be the additional pressure of this Chase format.

So basically, after the long season Harvick may essentially miss out on the chance to defend his title because the crew chief was watching a TV with a time delay and missed the chance to call him in for the last stop (based on the TV reply last night, was at the race Sunday so missed these details...
With 13 wins now Gibbs is advancing up the standings for season wins by a team, a list dominated by Hendrick. And they've mostly done it since late spring, IIRC? They've obviously had speed but have also won a bunch of these by making the right call and/or having late race luck.

And yet NASCAR still felt compelled to change the format.
Looks like we're back to rain impact this weekend with the hurricane along the East Coast. Not much room for error with a 2:45 start and sunsets coming earlier to begin with.

Newman is a winless machine. His skills know no bounds.
Gordon got through as well. How fitting would it be if Gordon made it through winless and won the whole thing a year after being the best driver all season long and missing the final cutoff?

Watching Harvick perform at SHR racing makes me wonder how many good years he pissed away at Childress. Childress seems to be more more interested in shoving talent-less Dillon boys down our throats than in running his own team. Even in NASCAR 13 years is a long time. Of course, it could be just a short period of good form that visited other NASCAR drivers in the past, and then left them forever, but he sure seems able to win at will for now.

In addition to that I think Gordon ended with the most overall points three other times since the Chase started, but has never been able to win it.The opposite of Johnson's team which has mastered it 6 times.
The old style system without any resets would be as follows:
1) #22-Joey Logano (C4), 1062
2) #4-Kevin Harvick (C3), 1054, -8
3) #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. (C12), 986, -76
4) #2-Brad Keselowski (C9), 970, -92
5) #20-Matt Kenseth (C1), 949, -113
6) #48-Jimmie Johnson (EC), 926, -136
7) #78-Martin Truex Jr. (C6), 919, -143
8) #11-Denny Hamlin (C2), 909, -153
9) #41-Kurt Busch (C8), 875, -187
10) #19-Carl Edwards (C5), 858, -204
11) #1-Jamie McMurray (EC), 855, -207
12) #31-Ryan Newman (C10), 837, -225
13) #24-Jeff Gordon (C7), 837, -225
14) #27-Paul Menard (EC), 785, -277
