Last race of the season, all class championships are on the line here for the 4th race in the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup.

The Spirit of Daytona drivers of Westbrook and Valiante lead the Prototype class.

In Prototype Challenge the CORE Autosport team lead by twelve points over Mike Guasch and Tom Kimber-Smith.

Porsche's Patrick Pilet leads GTLM over Auberlen/Werner of BMW and Garcia/Magnussen of Corvette.

For the GT Daytona category Christina Nielsen, driving for TRG-Aston Martin, leads by one point over Audi-Powered Christopher Haase and Dion Von Moltke, and 3 points behind them are Towsend Bell and Bill Sweedler.

In the Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge series, Starworks Motorsport lead the points in GS and in ST Steven Mcaleer and Chad McCumbee are tied for #1 in the points, Andrew Carbonell is in Second, one point away from them.

In the Cooper Tires Prototype Lights series, the Lights L2 class has a championship battle, with Brian Alder leading Todd Slusher by 10 points.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo series does not end at Road Atlanta, it is the series' 2nd to last round.

Can't Wait!

Also, as mentioned in the 2016 thread, Christina Nielsen could make history: http://racing.ap.org...ts-history-imsa

10/2 Edit: Rain Rain come and stay.

Live about 20 minutes from Road Atlanta. Weather looks pretty lousy for this weekend as of now.

Looking forward to following this. Always make a habit of seeing some of Sebring and Petit Le Mans every year. I find them far more appealing than the majority of WEC events. Just a shame WEC races at COTA, rather than a circuit like this.

The next-gen prototype spec will be called DPi (Daytona Prototype International) and have a wide variety of engines (GT3 powerplants have been mentioned) along with unique bodywork. The chassis manufacturers will still be the same four selected by the ACO/FIA for LMP2 (Dallara, Onroak, Oreca, Riley\Multimatic). http://www.racer.com...or-2017-p2-cars

DPi entries will be permitted at Le Mans without the custom bodywork, apparently.

Talked about it in the 2016 thread a little, surely the GT3 engines will be different than the ones used for DPi?

I finally start flagging tomorrow afternoon for Tudor qualifying. Should be at 10 with my brother, which will be very interesting if we continue to receive liquid sunshine throughout the weekend.

Planning on working Saturday warm-up and the first four hours of the race. If we get that far. I told a friend I'd be flagging a race at Road Atlanta and he said, 'No, you won't. Flags don't work underwater.'

100% chance of rain on Saturday. Bring it on.

Wondered if you'd be there this year.

Have fun, and hope you manage to avoid getting too wet! :p

10! Damn please be careful. Drivers never seem to slow down at the end of the straight during yellows. I cringe when workers are getting a car out of the sand and drivers are flying over that hill at the end of the straight.

Oh good luck man!

I can only hope that the carnage is kept to a minimum. I particularly hope it does not adversely impact Ms. Nielsen's championship run.

Hopefully this weekend is slightly less wet than 2009, my last time attending PLM. I remember just sitting in the rental car under a deluge for 4 hours waiting for something to happen, and listening to Hindaugh on RLM getting increasingly despondent. Was an otherwise brilliant weekend, though.

Also, although I hate the name DPi (it sounds like it's trying to play off Apple products in an annoying way), I like the idea that teams could run GT3 engines. Let's have an Aston V12-powered Oreca versus a Ferrari V8 powered Ligier.

Nah, the dpi measure is prevalent in all mobile operating systems. You should see the trouble we have with getting pixel-accurate view sizes on Android due to different dpi on different devices.  :drunk:

46 of Hindman/Freiberg won CTSCC http://www.imsa.com/...-atlanta-finale

Antinucci/Piscopo win Super Trofeo http://squadracorse....19a1c3d009e7e89

Kenton Koch doubled up on Atlanta Victories, and Brian Alder won Lites 2 title in the Cooper Tires Prototype lights series.

Unfortunate that I can't watch the race in-full on TV, stuck with watching a stream for half of it  . But it's better than nothing....

Dang, hope the Walker Racing guys manage to get the car fixed. It sure would be a shame to not see that Falken Tire car start its final IMSA race.

Reassigned to 3/4 today. Weather sucks. Cold and already soaked. Lots of action around here in the warm-up, and my jinxing the 60 car continues.

Race starts in about 45 minutes. Enjoy it, guys. :)

Earl Bamber of the road due to puncture. That's caution number 2.
Bamber: "What do you want me to do?"
Pits: "Get out of the gravel"

Someone said it in a letter to the magazine but......Reanult/Lotus need to sign Nick Tandy. Yes he occasionally makes mistake (e.g. spa) bit he is the most adaptable and downright quick in the world right now.

Can someone tell me the usc rules on driver stint? I'd leave Tandy out there all day.

JH-you know they'll be racing (and probably in the dark in the third race) through this weather at brands next week.

2009 was worse. They red flagged it and it never let up, lost the last 4 hours of racing. It's early days, that may happen again today...

Oh man, the Falken Porsche and the Valiante DP both went off on the front stretch and both nearly caused massive accidents when coming back on to the track. Valiante nearly backed into some GTD cars, scary.

Geezus that was scary. Was watching that through my fingers.

IMSA normally throws a yellow for the smallest thing. But not when there's a car reversing in conditions like this? Madness.

Two scary moments just happened. Falken Tyres Porsche spinning on the start finish straight and nearly getting hit. Then the #90 doing the same.
