Superb two days. The weather yesterday was just perfect. This event gets stronger and stronger each year and has gone a long way to ensuring Baskervilles future.

That Seton, ex Thommo Chev is near ready for offroad racing! Look like 1970 though except for Hoosier!

The MarlbARA Commondore too. Is that a real Brock car or not?

The Marlbara Condomodore is a (big horsepower) replica Lee. Normally beautifully presented but it ended up a bit roasted during the final!

I noted in the entry list just prior to the event that there was a certain Rusty French entered in a Porsche 935. Still great to see him turn up, it seems, in his IROC Porsche 911.

The pits must have been almost overflowing. Great to see an event find it's niche and prosper.

Still no pics of racing cars?

Where's Streak's Elfin, for instance?

I didnt really take many photo`s, apart from some in the pits of the Porsches and Mini`s I was interested in. There are plenty on the various Baskerville Facebook pages though.

It's not a real HDT car.   For some reason there are people keen to race 'tribute' tourers these days.   Up in QLD you can see cars running painted up as the '75 Brock L34,  the Grice Chickadee Commodore and at least one VK HDT Commodore similar to above.  In another series there is a Bartlett Camaro.  Whatever floats your boat, I guess......

So yet more non historic cars running as historic!

Just about all tin tops are not historic. GpN, GpS etc ar not the real thing for the most part.

Worse many are built like a modern V8 Supercar.

That is true, the Marlbara car is very touring car like. Its not really representative of Group C apart from the body kit and colour scheme.

Having said that, we have a small state here, and the cut off date for cars at this event is 1984, so whilst an historic only event would be wonderful, its not cost effective given what they are trying to achieve at Basky. There was a large entry list, including dozens of classic bikes. Its a huge event spectator wise, which sort of proves that people prefer metal to carbon fibre.

I think there will always be arguments as to what classes should and shouldn't run at Historic meetings, I thought a couple of the cars running in Regularity were a bit iffy, but I had an awesome two days spectating at the track and thats what counts.

That's better!

I'm sure Streak enjoyed this trip to Tassie better than his trip back in the seventies...

I'm sure that 98% of the forum members have no idea who Streak is and wish you would just say his name instead of talking in code.

It's not code... it's a nickname Paul has carried for forty years or more...

But I will apologise to you for that.

Paul Hamilton, of course, has owned and raced "Numero Uno Type 600" for over forty years as well.

I confess to having been labelled Streak in my youth!!!

Elfin #6801 and I did indeed enjoy the trip and this time came home in one piece.  As Ray has alluded to, when I took the 600 down to Simmons Plains in about 1975 it came home with a badly damaged engine.

Its a long trip from Lake Macquarie and a major logistical exercise but Baskerville is quite a challenging circuit which I really enjoyed.   It would, however, have been nice to see a few more single seaters there and I too was very surprised that there was no sign of either of the Lamberts cars!!  Where were you, James?

There were plenty of talkers in the paddock who showed great interest in my car and Phil Harris' Brabham but it seems that most resident Tasmanian single seaters remain locked away in garages which is quite a shame.

The Historic Racing Car Club of Tasmania has, in recent years, been formed and is encouraging a blowing off of dust and an unleashing of some of that cooped up machinery ........

I was in Gippsland Paul, doing some shed modifications!

Your car sounded fantastic!! I kept coming back to it over the weekend for another look. You are right, there are an awful lot of single seaters (and tintops) locked away in garages here in Tassie, shame. I can sort of understand it though, in that some of them are probably the golden goose under the house.
