Dear all,

I'm trying to make sense out of exactly what engine Cooper Monaco CM/1/59 was delivered with. It has generally been assumed it came with a 2-litre FPF, but just today the car's original mechanic Pekka Rämö said it was a 1,5. DCN's Cooper bible lists it (in accodance with factory records) as FPF/430/15/1104.

What do the middle figures stand for? I haven't been able to work that out by comparing known numbers from other Monacos.

Tony Mantle (Climax Engine Services) has the factory records and can look up the details.

He is usually rather busy but should be able to explain the numbering system - assuming there is some logic to it!

Thanks, Peter. Meanwhile found a partial answer from DCN here: http://forums.autosp...ngine-markings/

The middle digits apparently do not refer to displacement in any way then.

It looks like the middle digits being similar to the displacement is pure coincidence.
