Had to get the thread started early in case someone else started one with WSB incorrectly called SBK or WSBK in the title!

Nice to see AMA Flat Track getting a mention after BSB though.

It's nice to see those motorcycling topics getting more and more active on Autosport forums!

Waiting for the Lorenzo vs Rossi showdown on track.

Marquez will wipe the floor with everybody.

The long hard title battle between Rossi and Lorenzo will take its toll on both next year and they'll struggle to remain as fast and consistent as they have been. Michelin will suit him as well.

History suggests I'm right.

- Rossi struggled and fought hard in 2006, suffered in 2007. Pedrosa beat Rossi that season and nobody can claim the RC212V was the ideal tyre bike combination. Both had 3 DNFs;

- Then he had a long hard battle in 2009, struggled in 2010, crashed alone and injured himself twice (shoulder and leg, testing and racing) while Lorenzo romped away.

- Even in 2009 Rossi already was less impressive then in 2008, a season he dominated only after mentally breaking Stoner at Laguna Seca.

Lorenzo suffered the same.

- After his monumental fight to recover in the title battle and almost beat Marquez in 2013, he struggled badly the first half of 2014 and had his worse patch ever in the premier class.

Both will suffer from this years title fight, win or lose. It has happened to other Champions and contenders before as well. Hayden, Crivillé, Biaggi, even Doohan and Rainey (except both crashed and retired immediately instead of declining before regaining strength, or not).

Therein lies kosmic33's joke that flew over you.  Taarzan starts the thread early every year and persistently gets the acronym for World Superbikes wrong (and can't admit that it's wrong).

OK, I will ask an admin to rewrite the title if this is so painfull in its current form.

BTW in the TV coverage I heard a lots of natural english speaker guy to use the "WSB" acronym intstead of SBK, WSBK, World Superbike, etc.

I agree with Gilles. Wrong spellings in thread titles have character. Without them, you're no better than a SEO consultant.

The only thing maybe the tyre change will be harder to get used? Otherwise yes, Marquez all the way

It seems Ten Kate really need a sponsor:

Genial: How Honda convinced sponsors for Superbike

Wanted Sponsor: Otherwise dies the team Ten Kate Honda

http://www.speedweek...Kate-Honda.html

For Honda is clear: This championship is unimportant.

The question has to be...

Would you sponsor a team that has no hope in hell of winning a race on a half decade old motorcycle?

There's hope.

Nicky Hayden returns to Superbike in 2016 with the Honda Ten Kate team . After a brief courtship with Aprilia the US preferred the certainty of a house in which, apart from the adventure Ducati, he ran for almost his entire career

Feels like a homecoming. Yes he won a world title but him hauling the mail on a big old RC51 is peak Hayden in my mind.

Nicky Hayden's move from MotoGP in 2016 leaves the premier class without an American for the first time in 40 years. Seismic? #MotoGP

Ten Kate: “There is only be one person in the world who could possibly be more Honda than us, and that’s Nicky Hayden!”

It’s a cliché but Nicky Hayden really is one of the good guys & will be missed. WSB got a hell of a racer and hell of a gentleman too

Maybe a Hayden (Honda US) related company or a technology partner, like Castrol.

Errr no

Biaggi was a multiple champion in 250. As did Kocinski.

But think the only 500 champ is Marco Lucchinelli won lots of races in SBK after winning 1981 title.

Freddie Spencer had a few rides for Ducati in 1995. Not just the traditional AMA Superbike Laguna wildcard, either.

Peter Goddard and Norihiko Fujiwara both raced in WSBK after winning 500cc championships. In Japan, admittedly...

I think for GP winners there is a huge list!

But regarding champions, Abe I think won Japan 500.

People forget too that Doohan won SBK races for Marlboro Yamaha in 88. As did Dowson and Kevin Magee. Dowson I think was a very underrated rider

There's some footage on Youtube of the Australian WSBK round in 1988. The so-called "world championship" riders were nowhere in sight.

(Although if I remember Julian Ryder's World Superbike book correctly, a lot of the WSBK teams had nasty shocks from the local scrutineers, whose interpretation of "stock" bikes was a bit different from the Europeans'.)

Here's my best guess at an AMA/MotoAmerica lineup

Superbike

Monster Graves Yamaha

Josh Hayes

Cameron Beaubier (my sources tell me that this is almost certain, barring anything unforeseen abroad)

Yoshimura Suzuki

Roger Hayden

Jake Lewis (seems likely, steady rookie season and just bought a house so he must feel somewhat secure financially)

?

Elena Meyers (likely running her own team again but sold her Suzuki and all spares so the bike is an unknown)

Team Hammer Suzuki

Chris Ulrich

Additional bikes for a fee are always possible with John Ulrich's team

HMC KTM

Chris Filmore (no confirmation but Chris has been doing a lot for KTM since the last round. Still have to wonder how long KTM will continue paying for an old design to be raced for a top 5 at best)

HSBK Aprilia

Sheridan Morais

Danny Eslick

With the changes at the world level for Aprilia funding is up in the air. The team is working as if a second season is a go though and are trying their best to retain Eslick who ran as a substitute rider at season's end.

The rest of the Superbike grid is mostly privateers on R1s and local wild cards.

Supersport

Monster Graves Yamaha

JD Beach (Still to be finalized but really nowhere for the champ to move that would be an improvement. With Beaubier staying put an R1 is out of the picture)

Garrett Gerloff

Meen Motorsports

Josh Herrin

Joe Roberts (Unless Joe can score a 600 ride overseas a full run at the SS championship seems likely given his competitiveness at New Jersey)

Those two teams are the only ones that are really a certainty for next season. Bobby Fong's Latus Triumph team had a rough year and they seem unlikely to continue. Team Hammer and Road Race Factory will field bikes but the riders are a mystery to me at this point and probably involve bringing money.

I don't think he has been cleared of everything but the most serious charges have been dropped.

Edit: It appears none of the charges have been dropped he has just been released, on bail I assume.
