Hello All,

I was hoping that someone in this forum may have some information concerning the guy that used to own/run the old Lakeland Hillclimb in Lilydale, his name was Jim Abbott I believe. Does anyone know what became of him? I understand the track has been closed for years. Someone mentioned he passed away in the early 1970's but would appreciate if anyne has any further information.

Thanks for your time

Some info on Lakeland here which also refers back to an earlier TNF thread on the subject :- http://www.vhrr.com/...hread.php?t=256

I'm away from home at the moment so I can't check my RCNs for information...

But I recall he did die in the seventies and his car passed on to Chris Murphy, who was killed in it.

What other kind of information do you require?

Thanks everyone for your help. My reason for asking the question is that I am asking on behalf of a relative in the UK. There seems to be some conjecture as to how and where he may have met his demise. Some think it was racing, some say not and also where it was, lilydale, Victoria, Australia or beyond. I appreciate it is fairly specific information and not of the most savoury nature but I thought I would ask the question just in case someone knew the answer.

Thanks again.

I'm sure the 'Vale' notice in RCN will help out there...

It certainly wasn't on the track.
