Initial impact looks like he sideswiped the wall under braking before going straight into the barriers. No braking or tyre marks on the track. Radio is not working.

This is turning out to be one of those uglier racing weekends. I'm already looking forward to it being over.

I don't like the fact that they haven't shown a replay....it suggests there is a reason of not showing it :(

I think they genuinely don't know what his status is at the moment.

I think that it more shows that there /may be/ a reason for not showing it

Did something hit his head first? No coverage of it at all.

Very heavy impact to have the car end up lifting the barriers like that. Really hope Carlos is ok.

Speculation that he lost it under braking and hit the wall on the left before continuing on into the barrier.

Does the medical car seem like it has left the site? Might mean Sainz has already been extracted.

And they are keeping the cameras way back, only long shots of the area

Not liking this. In guessing the car just scooped up the barrier and was stopped by what ever is behind it, clearly also a danger he got hit on the head by the barrier as it went up.

The thing that makes me optimistic  is that they haven't sent an ambulance to the scene as far as I can see, just the medical car, makes me think he's not in too bad a way.

Edwards and Palmer are speculating that he may have lost control turning under brakes with the DRS open. Palmer was asked to close the DRS manually before the braking zone when he drove here.

Even if he is perfectly fine, is going to take them ages to fix the barrier so don't read too much into this decision.

Hopefully it's just taking time to get the barriers off the top of the car.

Ted saying early signs "may" be good news. just taking time to get the barriers away and the correct procedures carried out.

Hopefully, as someone else said, just because they don't know so precautionary not to show anything rather than because they know something negative.

Hopefully that's because it would take ages to fix the barrier rather than to extract Sainz.

It has nothing to do with Sainz health, they don´t have time to fix the track.

I have noticed that FOM has been a lot more cautious recently about showing incidents in which the condition of the driver is uncertain. Remember how the camera cut away from De Jong's GP2 crash at Spa-Francorchamps?

I guess this is an issue with low noses, easy to scoop under barriers.
