COTA are telling fans at the circuit to seek shelter, so I suspect FP2 will be red flagged from the get-go: https://twitter.com/...622171578146816

Is it 'delayed' or just red flagged to start with?
#24
Posted 23 October 2015 - 18:57
Oh, brilliant.
#25
Posted 23 October 2015 - 18:59
Delayed usually means not started. So I guess there's 90 minutes to go.Is it 'delayed' or just red flagged to start with?

It's easy to see this happening tomorrow too, based on the forecast. Sunday is improving a bit at least.

There are two kinds of wet-weather tyres in F1: intermediates and the ones that are never ever used.

Do they 'have' to start the race on sunday if it is like this? Could it be canceled? Was a race ever canceled due to rain/storm?
#33
Posted 23 October 2015 - 19:13
ffs just cancel the weekend, bloody El Nino.
#34
Posted 23 October 2015 - 19:25
Considering a record breaking hurricane is incoming this race may never see the light of day.
#35
Posted 23 October 2015 - 19:30
Finally a chance of wet running. Let's ground the cars.
#36
Posted 23 October 2015 - 19:31
Race to be cancelled. 3 more races left - I bet Lewis would love this.
#37
Posted 23 October 2015 - 19:31
This why we need close cockpits!!! So we can race in storms like this!!!
#38
Posted 23 October 2015 - 19:33
This isn't wet running, this is ocean running. I wouldn't let 2008 cars on extreme Bridgestone's out in this. Let alone these cars on wet Pirelli's.
Hamilton loves to race, especially in America
How would closed cockpits allow them to race in this?. Serious question

Just tuned in to see that pick-up truck drive through a lake of water at one of the corners.... Yeah this session isn't happening...

I think he prefers to win it on sunday as the question is just when he will win the title and not if...
Sunday will be probably dry by the way.

Not really fair to say to the fans who paid thousands of dollars to make it out there.

Open cockpits isnĀ“t the issue in this case

Looks like the TV directors have left the circuit. All we see is a static shot of the main straight.

Cameramen probably have, we get the same at LeMans, they lock the cameras in place then go inside when it's grim.

Say what you will about Hamilton, the guy is obviously passionate about racing (just like all the other drivers). I'm sure none of them wants to see the race cancelled.
He's going to be the champion anyway, so this week or the next is largely immaterial.

Even Bernie Ecclestone has to draw a line somewhere.
