Meandering around on the net I found a site called ChicaneBlog that had a letter to the editor from a man from El Salvador who told of the road races they had there, one of which had a Speedster that later went to Tenn. It intrigued me, so I am reproducing the whole letter in the hopes somebody knows of this car and the SN. I had the article translated automatically so the English may be a bit patchy. I gather the car was in Tennessee, USA in 2012 when the letter was written...

Chariot races in El Salvador began in 1954, when the Grand Carrera ran Centenario, Acajutla to Santa Ana. Who organized the race, were my father, Samuel Alvarez and Mike Rivera, with the valuable assistance of the Guatemalan and experienced riders . There were many races in Santa Ana, mostly for Fiestas Julias. Also in Ahuchapan. Then they began in San Salvador, in the Circuit San Benito, Santa Tecla, in Balboa Park Plans Renderos and City Resume, when we had to go running for several years to Guatemala, before they build El Jabali.

The Chamacos Rodriguez, came to run on 2 occasions, they stayed at my house and my father lent her car to Pedro, where he won both times.Ricardo brought his own car, first a Osca, and then a Porsche Spyder. In 1962 he was killed in an accident, practicing for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Mexico, running for Ferrari.

Pedro stopped running for a short time, but then continued to become one of the most notorious drivers of all time. He was considered the fourteenth best runner in history, and they said, is the most complete rider who has been, because ran from bicycles, at age 10, motorcycles from the 13, and cars to reach 16. The cars, ran all kinds of careers. Won the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and many Formula 1 Grand Prix, which ran 54 Grand Prix for Ferrari, BRM, Cooper and Lotus.24 Hours and the 12 Hours in a Porsche 917 won, perhaps the most famous of all. It was the official Porsche factory pilot for several years.Ran for Gulf, 917 and also the Ford GT. Not if you remember these carts, which were heavenly with a big orange stripe in the middle.

Unfortunately, Peter died in 1971, racing a Ferrari in Nuremberg, Germany, which was not supposed to run. He did it to make a favor to a friend, surnamed Muller, who was his co-pilot in Targa Florio. I was in Mexico when he was taken to be buried in summer vacation, but did not attend the funeral.

As this article says, the Porsche Super Speedster when Peter goes in this race, it was my dad. Germany imported it back to travez of the Caribbean Motors in 1955, and was the twelfth Super Speedster built by Porsche. In the books of the Porsche, they refer to the car as "The Lost Porsche" or "The Porsche Lost", apparently because they were lost when he was in El Salvador. I had a serious accident in that car when I was 16, in the summer of 1968. I took three "lap cat" in it, without hood, without roll-bar, and no seat belt, but incredibly, I had not as single scratch or bruise. My dad sold the car to Ira Lewis, a gringo who lived or live in Antigua, Guatemala, in 1979, at $ 800 dollars. 3 or 4 years ago, Ira sold it to Dr. George Kehler, who has edited and sent to Chicane these films made by Carlos Emilio Alvarez, who must be able to see all this. The doctor sent me Kehler all films made by Carlos Emilio on 3 DVDs. Last year, George invited me to go see him at Tennessee, and we took lots of pictures with the car, in the company of my daughters and granddaughters. He takes to compete for the best Concourse d'Elegance of the United States, and has won many awards.Sends in a refrigerated trailer. He has competed in Monterrey and several others in California. Concursarlo just returned from New England and New York. This car is now very valuable. Someone estimated that its price goes for $ 750,000 dollars.

When my dad retired from racing in 1962, after many successes in El Salvador and Guatemala, ran the Rally of Central America to Mexico, which lasted 7 days, from San Jose, Costa Rica, to the Federal District.Ran a Mercedes Benz, with Carlos Panama co-pilot. Some time later, Carlos and, with Santaneca Automobile Association (ASA), organized the first rally in our country.

Sent a greeting to the car fans."
