With respect, if you don't think Palmer dominated that season then you weren't watching it very closely. There is no question that Vandoorne came strong at the end of the season, but Palmer owned that year.

At his 6th season in feeder series in Dams he should've dominated right if he had some sort of talent?

Over 31 qualy between 2011 and 2013 Jolyon has been beaten by his teammate in qualy 18 times.

Remembering that he Kral,Ericsson and Nasr as teammate.

He had two year in Formula Two.

Faster than a 3.5 series car back in 09.

Full stop.

Then he has been beaten by Kral ,Nasr and Ericsson.

He did beat the wonderful journeyman Richelmi at Dams.

It's outstanding!!!!

Since when does getting 2 feature race wins and 2 sprint race wins counts as a "dominant" title? Dominant's what Vandoorne did. Or... Maldonado.

And the only reason he "beat" Vandoorne was that Vandoorne spent about 3 race weekends at the beginning of the season scoring **** all points. Which is what you'd expect a rookie to do. Once he figured it out and got going, however, was Jolyon any better? This was still on Vandoorne's rookie season.

It's what I said about Palmer having brains - he gamed the system that year.  After halfway he did what Button did in 2009; having established the gap he just relentlessly chalked up the points.  He was taking a lot less out of himself and the car in so doing.

Maybe. And not a bad strategy IMO.

Maybe they decided to play it safe. But the end result is that Palmer nor Button are that highly regarded.

I think Haryanto has done that sort of a thing at a lower level.  He's not good enough to win the title so aims for pole in the sprint race and a few cheap wins.  Looks good on the CV.

Let's see how it goes in F1 before judging him based on GP2 results. I mean some drivers do better in higher categories than lower ones and vice versa.

I expect mediocre Saturdays and good Sundays from Jolyon. Sort of like his 2013 GP2 season, lets see if thats enough
