This Lewis/Nico is the same as Webber/Vettel - Webber had opportunities to win titles at RB, didn't get the results and Vettel did. I can't see Nico staying with Merc for more than 3 years to be honest - the negativity of coming second to Lewis is already having an impact on track.

Funny how the Alonso/Webber comraderie is being replaced by Vettel/Nico. :p

Yeha it was clear from earlier in the race that in the dry Ham had better pace, nico knew it, hence why it pushed, and pushed too far.

BS

Nico pulled 11 sec. gap on softs, after SC, they started again less than 1sec.apart and stayed so for couple of laps, then NR changed tires first and his pace was immense, after last SC LH had much fresher tires, dindt show any big advantage. There is no proof that LH had superior pace on softs, in the first half he was demolished though.

Verstappen got disadvantaged by poor strategy by TR at the end. We might have seen some more magic if they'd have pitted him when Vettel pitted during the safety car period.

Since you brought Vettel in, he won in a Toro Rosso in his first complete season, so I think Verstappen has still some way to go. He needs to have more than a solid mature drive to impress.

Would not mind this Qualifying and Race all on a Sunday for certain races. Monaco springs to mind.  With double points as well.... :stoned:

I would agree if we still had the T cars in case of a wreck in Q. If one of the top drivers bins it in Q, there may not be enough time for repairs. At Monaco binning it is a real possibility.

No further action against HUL after the clash with RIC because the FIA accepted that his wing was damaged and he lost grip

Ah, maybe that explains the strange twitchyness I saw from the onboard.

Did I miss something; was the wing damaged just seconds before the collision? Did it fail on its own again(!)?

It was clearly damaged before the contact with Ric. Not sure when/how it sustained the damage though.

I watch F1 racing for entertainment and enjoyment. I am proud to say that we got both at today's USGP. The CoTA track is an excellent (world class) track. I race and instruct there, and today's race showed what a magnificent facility it is (rain or shine). That said, I have great respect for Lewis for finishing first, for winning the World championship, for Nico for an excellent drive to second place, for Sebastian for finishing 3rd after a good fight. I think this USGP has been by far the most exciting and entertaining race of this 2015 season.

Thanks - I hadn't noticed that. One wonders if it was a sudden failure like Force India has experienced before this year, or - if it had been a problem for longer - why the race director didn't show Hülkenberg the 'meatball' flag to get his wing fixed. We all know what can happen when these things break off and end up wedged under the car.

Just imagine Vettel in that Mercedes, would have clinched the wdc with half the races remaining.

Physically impossible! but nice attempt!

so much pity for Nico, plenty of drivers who had a dominant car for a few years but never won a WDC.....it's not like he lost by 1 point in the last race, hardly the most gutting stuff....

He's always the subject of much humour but who would have thought that @Pastormaldo would survive a race like today's and score points?

there was only DK between them. NR flied by DR like he was not there while LH kept making mistakes behind DK. After passing DK he was nowhere compared to NR in free air. These were ones of the worst laps in LH carrier.

I'm not sure where this is (suddenly) coming from, either.

No doubt Rosberg is disappointed, and we can all understand why, but let's be honest: there are still three races to go. He didn't just 'lose out', he has been thoroughly outscored. He's not even 2nd in the WDC!

Ah, ye. Solid mature, good drive. But nothing exceptional.

Exceptional maybe not but early part of the race he was duking it out with both Ferrari's in a very solid way. Kimi might be bitching about it a bit but mweh dont care.

Lewis was poor today, drove like amateur, how many times he was off track? Did anybody count it? Before SC lottery Rosberg demolished him despite poor start.

Waiting for 9 for LH in Autosport rating

This is not true. After passing DR we only saw one full lap from Lewis on the softs before the SC came out. The first lap he dipped into the 1:43s for the first time, and he set purple sectors on the lap the SC came out. He 100% had the pace on Nico on soft tyres, as proven by the fact Nico couldn't pull away once the SC period ended. Lewis was in the DRS zone the whole time until the second SC came out.

Its true, I wrote after passing DK he was nowhere, he had 3 laps in free air, all very slow compared to Nico, his passing of DK showed too he had no pace.

It's not true. His final lap in clean air on the SC lap set purple sectors.

How can you say he has no pace when he remained with Nico after the first SC went in for the entire time and set two fastest laps?

Geez,

He had no pace before and after passing DK, thats how he lost 11sec. I didnt write anything about his pace in second half of race. Both LH and NR were quick in latter half, we dont know who was quicker, but margin was very little. LH had luck with last SC, he would overtake NR with fresher tires, same as NR would overtake LH without last SC.

He had no pace on inters, sure. But as I said, his dry pace was better and we do know who was quicker. And Nico got lucky with the first SC after Lewis was catching him, so there was no luck involved. Lewis was faster when it mattered.

This should have been the same ruling for the Lewis and Ric in the Hungary clash.

Not sure what race you are commenting on TBH.

And you are laying about purple sectors, NR was again 4 tenths quicker during lap before SC was announced, no purple sector as well,

We moan when drivers don't show emotion, we moan when they do.

We don't moan when they show emotion. We moan when they're clearly telling porkies.

Marklar said about the purple sectors and I trust him because he's the ultimate statistician around here.

Purple sectors or not, after the safety car went in, Nico could not pull away from Lewis, and Lewis was setting fast laps behind him in DRS range. That should be enough for you to make a judgement that Lewis was quicker on the softs.

Damn haters. WHERE'S THERE WIN? :p

But legit Pastor didn't look comfortable in this car during the race. Pastor is 18 points shy of Grosjean. Bring it on. lol
