Apologies, due to the lack of a build-up thread your stuck with my effort again. (Its Wednesday already - practice starts in 2 days time :p ) I'll keep it brief (mainly due to the fact I have to be up for work in less than 6 5.5 hours.

Strangely amusing video from Ferrari (and kind of ironically released on the day they state they are not in F1 to entertain the fans with acts) I know its posted in the Ferrari driver thread which I am going to shamelessly steal but if people have any sense they don't wander into that scary place so may not have seen it.

(1 question though - why are they on ladders  )

New (ish) track, dusty and made green after a few showers? Bring it on

If McLaren get any where near 5th this race it'll be a miracle

now all we need is Nige in a poncho and sombrero hat ... with a bottle of Corona in one hand and mic on the other, and he'll be perfect. he almost already has a Mexican mustache.

Isn't it funny how there are so many national hats. I wonder if every podium could have its own national hat? Do Hungarians have a special hat?

Australia - hat with corks
GB - bowler hat
Mexico - sombrero

No need to apologies - an excellent start post...

I'm looking forward to this race, it will be good to see Mexico again, a country that had a long history for F1, but I'm a bit peeved with some of the circuit changes - particularly the camera friendly kink on the straight in the stadium.

No matter, I should reserve judgement until the race, so I'll wait as fast as I can.

Just thought I'd throw this out there. I've seen it mentioned that there'll be 2 DRS zones, but only 1 detection point. Not certain on where the 1 detection point is but the 2 zones are the pit straight and between turns 3 and 4, which means a bit like Canada, if you pass into the first DRS zone, you'll get a double helping and be able to pull away in the 2nd zone.

Truth be told, that bothers me. I don't think it's right that you can pass in 1 zone and then pull away in the next. I'd rather see the pit straight OR between turns 3 and 4, as well as the shortish bit after the curvy section through to what I think is the stadium section (think it's turn 11 through to the 90 degree right hander at T12?) Might not be overly long but even so.

Yeah, I am looking forward to seeing how this goes, not so much the next two races given that the championships are done, and there's not really much fighting for position behind the winners either.

Ahh damn... A DRS zone from the S/F line till braking for T1. They go flat out for 1400 meters there. So unnecessary  And no 2nd detection point so no chance to fight back... Little less pumped for this race now.

Wow, I hope this map is wrong about the single detection point. Better wait for the FIA to publish the circuit map.

Love to see Perez get a podium here, and I think it's not impossible if luck falls his way. The Force India should be reasonably strong here.

Disaster for Red Bull and Honda. I don't even see rain bringing them into play.

This track looks a bit like Monza crossed with Yas Marina.

They should mandate that the champions now start from the back each race. It won't have an effect on the position and will create some fun too.

Maybe they need to make it a requirement, or maybe the press need to buy a ticket, lol

DRS is artificial - but having a single detection points turns into an utterly ridiculous gimmick. So, this means that you get more than 700m of DRS zone to pass, and then almost as much so as to sprint further ahead.

Ridiculous

They have.

Thanks. But actually, I was waiting for the PDF map which I think is the most reliable. It's available now – and it only has one DRS detection. So the same driver will get DRS through two zones: 420 metres into the main straight and 116 metres into the second straight.

Excellent, I don't have a problem with that.  If competitive cars (e.g inter team battles) in which tyre wear is not an issue are able to pass with ease, then they should re-evaluate for the future.  Currently DRS zones are only effective when the chaser is about half a second a lap faster than the guy ahead.

DRS is a brainless device implemented brainlessly. There is no hope they'll experiment by using it to bolster the odds of overtaking on parts of the circuit it might otherwise be more difficult. The sooner it gets binned the better - it is only delaying the implementation of better measures to improve the ability of cars to actually race each other whilst we're under the illusion the problem has been solved.

Record speeds?

Huge DRS straight & V6's performance should get better with the altitude.
