Maybe if he's got nothing to drive he'll go to Haas and get to drive a NASCAR on a road course for reals.

NASCAR road course skill sets increased massively when Marcos Ambrose was apart of the field, he was known to help some of the regulars out. Not sure if a gun sedan racer would have as much impact anymore let alone a open wheel specialist. It would be however cool to see a crossover out of interests sake.

I feel a little summer break F1 exodus to NASCAR XNationBusch coming on.

If RBR let him do it, would be mega cool.

Surely they would run an extra car in RB livery.

In the spirit of NASCAR, can I get a 'HAIL YEYAH'?

1. This could be fun.

2. I'm not sure he would be remotely competitive... he hasn't raced a heavy saloon before.

3. Sebastian Bourdais, Mattias Ekstrom, Patrick Long or Oliver Gavin would be more sensible choices...  They have been quick everytime they raced a V8 Supercar or Nascar.

Nope.  We sent them packing.  They weren't fast enough...

Or, for Ricciardo, a "HAIL YEYAH MATE"

If he wins, will Bernie switch F1 to a 52 week schedule?

It would be awesome if F1 drivers made regular trips to NASCAR road circuits for the summer breaks. It would help improve the popularity of F1 in the states for sure. PEACE.

Ricciardo says he'd be interested in a Nascar career after F1: http://www.autosport...t.php/id/121657

Well, Penske ran Jacques. If JV wasn't such a schmuck, he would have gotten more rides.

Whatever the case, I'm sure wherever he finished Ricciardo would have fun doing it, and as said above, would do wonders for F1 here in the US.

I was talking to Jeremy Bullins, the crew chief for the Nationwide Penske 22 entry, at Daytona earlier this year. He told me,in no uncertain terms, that JV was the best Road Course racer they had ever seen on that team and that pressure and supreme disinterest from NASCAR determind the end of his participation. He said the move on Danica at RA was the absolute funniest thing he had ever seen and made sure he bought Jacques a stiff Pineapple juice at the bar that night. Somewhere,he said, is the offline radio chatter from those last few laps that just HAS to be released at some point. It's comedy gold !

I thought he drove well, but he did have some very questionable bumper tags in there as well.

It would be awesome for Ricciardo to do those two races during the summer break.  I think he was actually serious.

The big manufacturers wouldn't let it happen, but I wonder if Red Bull would see the cross marketing value.

The NASCAR guys have really upped their road course game.  It would probably be pretty tough to jump right in and run at the front, but you never know .... would love to see just how well he could do.

Ricciardo being an Earnhardt fan and wanting to race Nascar in the future is "filler journalism"? Okay then...

I suppose you think the silly season thread is also a waste of time :stoned:

Yes that's exactly what I call it. Just because DR liked Dale sr. you believe he will give up his open wheel career and drive in Nascar?

It is silly. and should be in the SS thread.

RBR aren't going anywhere , and either is Ricciardo

I may be stoned, but that's beside the point!

It's a nationwide offer, or x finity or busch or whatever it's called these days, not the big boy cars/drivers.

Thats too bad, it would be a blast and better PR to see him in the top level.

Marcos used to be a gun road racer, it seems not any more. He has just made up the numbers this year in V8SC. Deserves to be in the field but no longer a winner.

This is definitely a big part of the equation. One reason why Ricciardo has the number 3 on his car is because he was a fan of Dale Sr. With Hulkenberg's success at LeMans, it not only brought him satisfaction, but proved Formula One drivers are capable and it didn't bring any negative fallout on Formula One.

IMO this will have the blessing of Bernie, the bottom line is that Formula One will get more positive exposure in the USA.

Ricciardo can handle the aggression in NASCAR, something other Formula One drivers will crap their diapers over.

I think a cheerful easygoing and humble Ricciardo could be a good fit for Nascar. But it's a whole different category and the roadcorse-spesialists don't really prevail in NASCAR anymore, so he will have his work cut out. But I'd love to see it.

Why is DR openly admitting on twitter he's instantly rushing to the kitchen calendar?

2 of the 3 Xfinity Road Courses were in F1 summer break, the third this year was between Spa and Monza, so It would work if he was still in F1.

Why not? He's a racer and they love to race. And if the opportunity arose where he could do what he loves and have a lot of fun, it makes sense.

You seem to give off the impression that Ricciardo associating with NASCAR or racing in another series is something one would distance themselves from.
