Hey guys, the season is not over yet! We stil have the amazing Brazilian GP!

A venue which gave us in the last couple of years many great and emotional races as beeing the title decider. This year the title is already decided and after this race we have stil to survive the Abu Dhabi GP (hey!), but this hopefully wont prevent us from another great race!

Since 1973 the Brazilian Grand Prix has taken place at the circuit in Interlagos ("between the lakes"). Just between 1981 and 1988 Jacarepagua was host of the Brazilian GP. In this time they changed the layout of the circuit. In the 70s a lap was 7.960 km long (later 7.874 km). Since 1990 Interlagos is hosting the GP on the current layout (with small modifications in 1997 and 2000).

The layout is a mix of long straights, fast and slow corners. As Mexico Interlagos is on a high altitude, eventhough 800 m are compared to Mexico not noteworthy.

To find the right setup is always a bit difficult as the circuit is providing slow and fast sections. Bumps are usually also a issue. Brake wear is not an issue, but tyre wear will be as Pirelli will again provide the soft/medium compounds, last years winning strategy was a 3 stop strategy.

Renault will also debut their latest engine spec, maybe we will find out after that if they will continue their rocky relationship with Red Bull.....

Weather forecast currently looks like a wet friday and probably dry saturday/sunday.

São Paulo Municipality made nothing to improve the Padock but spent US$ 50 milion to make the Padock a slum, a favela. Burned all this money to enlarge the Padock by 2 meters.
Interlagos is a natural anfitheater and those people insists to obstruct the vision with concrete monsters. Next year they plan to put a Market Ceiling to finish the mess.
The municipality company, SPTuris that manages Interlagos, closed the track in january and began those things only in april. People that work in national and regional racing became jobless. Paulista Championship did not happen in 2015 and SPTuris wants to close in 2016. This will finish the killing of he races in São Paulo State.
It is important to you to know that we don't want the GP at this price. Every year Eclestone demands 21 weekends only to his F1. We believe this is only 2 weekends in other countries. They made a plot including Municipality, Rede Globo Television and FOM and they do whatever they want. FOM don't want WEC or Indy in Interlagos and they block iniciatives.

Every year is the same, track closes for 4/5 months and we are without track. Every year they spend US$ 10 million in temporary stands but this year was worse, they burned US$ 50 million to do this crap.
Fotos of the US$ 50 million FAVELA.

Is there some sort of aversion to this thread? Currently GP info on four different threads, none of which are this one.

Hoping for a nice Interlagos classic. Preferably with wet weather.

I hope it's like 2012.

Wet and crazy.

This season has definitely been stretched too far. Without a title to decide, 19 GPs seems an exageration. And yet there are two races to go. More isn't always better.

Regardless of the number of races, if the title is decided early then the season seems too long.

Regardless - I like the Grand Prix of Brazil.  The track is distinctive, it tends to have entertaining races, and hopefully this year we'll have a synergism of rain and drivers with nothing to lose going balls to the tarmac - although, pedal to the metal might be a better idea.

Hopefully I'll be chatting with a whole bunch from Friday...

It'd be brilliant if there's a new winner on Sunday.

Bottas would be my pick.

I know right. And Bernie wants to keep adding Grand Prixs as well, passing the 20 race mark. I think 17-18 is the perfect number to be honest, otherwise the season does get too drawn out, even if there is a close title battle. If anything, longer seasons will act to prevent close title battles because luck and other factors such as the faster car coming out on top more, rather than a faster driver in a slower car due to the increased opportunities for the faster car.

One more Rosberg win to solidify his second place, and then a Hamilton win to close off the season!

Vettel's lacklustre effort in Mexico has pretty much ruined that small source of excitement, and Lotus' recent form and some great results for Force India means that little battle is pretty much decided as well.

Brazil is nice, but the DRS on the main straight is a great shame. It makes those battles through the Senna S a rare sight indeed.

Title challenge is not the only reason why fans watch f1. 20 races is fine according to me. There is not much in season testing so in my opinion a 20 race calendar is nice to have. There are many sub plots to a season and I for one is looking forward to the remaining races this season.

I couldn't disagree more. What I love most about F1 is each race is an event with real meaning versus say individual football games. Therefore I think the relative importance of the championship in F1 is less than most other sports.

I can't understand why any F1 fan would want less races tbh.

On another note, thanks Marklar for the video links, just watched 2008 again and all the tension came flooding back! I know JA was an unpopular commentator but I thought he and MB caught both the excitement of those last few laps perfectly and were right on the money regarding Glock as soon as Vettel got past.

Lotus and Toro Rosso are still very close in the constructors championship though. Maybe that will increase the excitement level by 1%.

I like this track. Unusual being driven in contrary direction to most of tracks and huge G forces to be sustained by drivers it makes it a very physical track too.

Assume that Vettel has an accident and someone is taking a picture and make a quick buck with that, than it is exactly the same. Im sorry, this has nothing to do with him showing his private life on social media....

It's really shameful to see what is surrounding the circuit itself. This is the road of "Subida dos boxes", the marvellous uphill section. The reality shows a not so marvellous place.

No Brazilian GP for me due to @Lufthansa strike - earliest I could be there is Sunday am. Team personnel stranded too. #lufthansasucks

So even the friday press conference will be dull....

It would be interesting in a way, if also German drivers would be unable to arrive before sunday morning.

Rosberg, Vettel and Hulkenberg starting from the rear (well, apart from some inevitable McLaren penalty... ) would be epic, specially on such track. :D

Some journos are choosy regarding airlines. I know for example that Michael Schmidt (AMuS) is never travelling with arabic or German airlines or low-cost airlines because they have a bad service according to him. Might be possible that Rencken is also choosy and is just flying with Lufthansa....

~Everybody~ on those flights will have been stranded, so they're all fighting for place(s) on the alternatives.

Then there is the cost. We obviously don't know of any numbers, but if say 20 of your team are stranded, you're looking at 54K in new last-minute tickets.

(I've taken Lufthansa economy-class prices, from Munich to Brazil)

Anyway, I thought it was a bit ironic as well that I could go to the Lufthansa site and virtually book these tickets for this weekend when the buggers are on strike
