Why didn't Nico do this all year?
I mean, where the hell has he been?
Pressure's off. Plus I think his strongest tracks are at the back end of the calendar anyway.

Have to be disappointed with Hamilton. This is a tonking by any standard.
Not really. Eight hundredths.
Tonkings were being administered at Spa and suchlike.

At the beginning of the year, he said that he focussed on the race, rather than on qualifying. Since that didn't worked out for him, I sort of expected him to return to his qualy form.

It would not have mattared if Rosberg had all these podiums before. Lewis is a class above in the races anyways.
Not in Sochi, Austin or in Mexico, last three races so...we'll see.

I'm talking in terms of gaining momentum vs Hamilton for next season. If you're into stats, then yes that is significant.

You shoud ask Rosberg what he prefers, 5 consecutive pole positions or the WDC

Finally something extra from Hülkenberg. I thought he could get fifth, but anyway, he was fast today.
Best part was Alonso finding the camera while sat in the chair watching the others. (Before he turned the chair around to stare at the sun.)

Even for gaining momentum it is important. It means Rosberg has recognized that sticking to his strengths (His single lap pace is usually better than Hamilton) is the way forward if he wants to beat Hamilton. If he can beat Hamilton over a season in the races remains to be seen.
Even iIf he doesn't his immediate target is to make it 6 pole positions in a row.

There's no question about that, but sacrificing his qualification speed for the race was the wrong decision (without car issues the title race might still be on, btw). Quite ironically, by focussing on qualification, he emulates Ayrton Senna' s approach to racing much more than Hamilton.

I think his run is just the way sport goes with two closely matched individuals. World class strikers go games without scoring, doesn't mean there's been a change, it's just the way things go sometimes.
I think the media are keen to show that next season will be exciting (by bigging up Rosberg's form). That may well be the case but I don't think what happens here and in Abu Dhabi will determine what happens in 2016.

Driver gets meaningless pole streak in dominant car after championship is decided. Beats teammate who by his own admission has partied so hard he crashed his road car this week. By less than a tenth.
Nothing to see here. Move along please. Roll on 2016.

What a joke. Massa was on an outlap and went for a gap that didn't exist. I was riding with him on an onboard feed when it happened and I don't know what the hell he was thinking. He's driving like a rookie this weekend. Just watch him through the Senna S tomorrow. He's all over the place.

Excellent, how dare he FORCE Massa to accelerate straight into him and then FORCE Massa to drive off the road to avoid a collision.
Where is your sense of theatre and drama!?
Exactly. This is no good.
'Has Hamilton lost focus after equalling Senna's number of titles? Worried fans demand answers!'

Massa was not on an out lap. I suggest you go and watch again. Or, alternatively, get down to specsavers.

Wow. Well. Umm. After the incident had happened, when we got the message from Race Control that it would be investigated, that's when I looked back on the incident, and the way I remembered it, he was on an outlap. That's why I didn't think there should be a penalty. And therefore, the fact that you say he wasn't on an outlap, and if it in fact is a fact that he wasn't, well it doesn't make me any less entitled to my opinion!!!He was one a quick lap.
Who cares about Massa anyway?

Lol, Jenson and Fernando getting onto the podium. That's as close as you'll get for a while, guys.
Class shows in how you handle the downs of your career. Clearly these 2 are the class of F1 today.

No it's a tonking by ridiculously high standards. Separated by just 0.078 seconds, especially after the tough week Lewis has had.

Massa was on a quick lap when it happened.
Depending on the energy recovery it might have had a big effect as he only had time for one more quick lap immediately after.
The fact it ultimately didn't have that much effect except damaging Massa's tyres for the race meant the penalty could be considered harsh.

What drivers do in private is up to them. It shouldn't really be used as an excuse or playing down performances. 5 poles in a row is quite remarkable from Rosberg and while worthless for the WDC I think it solidifies his standing in the team.
Congrats to Vettel, Hulk (and possibly Kvyat and Verstappen whom I did not see) for their performance as well!

Only just caught up with qualifying.
All I can say is thanks to twitter for providing some light hearted entertainment after another miserable performance #PlacesAlonsoWouldRatherBe
I would also like to congratulate Renault for finally turning around their engine woes with their long-awaited upgrades - great job.
(Yes I am in a bad mood)
Well done Nico - very good lap. Hulkenberg also impressed as did Nasr, just a pity he picked up a penalty. Kvyat, Vettel and Verstappen also solid performances.
