As the season is going to end in a fortnights time with the season final in Abu Dhabi there are stil a few final decisions pending regarding the final positions in the constructurs and drivers championship. Particullary the battle for P6 in the constructurs championship and P4 in the drivers championship, but there are a few more (more or less important). More information about that in the following. But who do you think will finish in these battles ahead?

Battle for P6 & P7 WCC - Lotus (76) vs. Toro Rosso (67)

Toro Rosso need to score 10 points more than Lotus. This happened this season twice (Sepang, Austin).

Lotus

  • best season result: 15 points (Spa)
  • scored points in 12 races

Toro Rosso

  • best season result: 18 points (Austin)
  • scored points in 13 races
  • scored in 3 races at least the needed 10 points (Sepang, Hungary, Austin)

The battle so far....

Spoiler

Battle for P8 & P9 WCC - Sauber (36) vs. McLaren (27)

McLaren need to score at least 9 points more than Sauber. This just happened in Budapest.

Sauber

  • best season result: 14 points (Melbourne)
  • scored points in 9 races

McLaren

  • best season result: 12 points (Budapest)
  • scored points in 5 races
  • scored in one race at least the needed 9 points

The battle so far....

Spoiler

Battle for P4 & P5 WDC - Bottas (136) vs. Raikkonen (135)

Whoever will finish ahead (and in the points) of the other will get the 4th place. It happened exactly in 9 races this season that Raikkonen finished ahead of Bottas and in the points.

In theory Massa is also in the battle, but just in theory. He is 18 points behind Raikkonen and 19 behind Bottas after his DSQ from his home GP.

Bottas

  • best season result: 3rd (Montreal, Mexico)
  • scored points in 13 races

Raikkonen

  • best season result: 2nd (Bahrain)
  • scored points in 13 races

The battle so far....

Spoiler

Battle for P7 & P8 - Kvyat (94) vs. Ricciardo (84)

Ricciardo is 7th, if

....he wins and Kvyat is not better than 3rd

....he is 2nd and Kvyat not better 6th (happened in Singapore)

....he is 3rd and Kvyat not better 8th

....he is 4th and Kvyat not better than 9th

....he is 5th and Kvyat scores no point

Theoretically Perez is stil in the fight for P8 with Ricciardo, but he is already 16 points behind him.

Kvyat

  • best season result: 2nd (Budapest)
  • scored points in 13 races

Ricciardo

  • best season result: 2nd (Singapore)
  • scored points in 12 races
  • scored 4 times at least the needed 10 points (Monaco, Budapest, Singapore, Mexico)

The battle so far....

Spoiler

Battle for P10 & P11 & P12 - Hulkenberg (52) vs. Grosjean (49) vs. Verstappen (49)

The battle Verstappen vs. Grosjean will be decided by who will finish ahead of the other in the points. Should both not score points than Grosjean will be ahead due to his 3rd place in Spa. The situation for both against Hulkenberg is exactly the same as both had the better best result than Hulkenberg.

Verstappen (Grosjean) will beat Hulkenberg if...

...he wins

...he is 2nd and Hulkenberg not better than 3rd

...he is 3rd and Hulkenberg not better than 4th (happened once for Grosjean)

...he is 4th and Hulkenberg not better than 6th (happened twice for Verstappen)

...he is 5th and Hulkenberg not better than 7th

...he is 6th and Hulkenberg not better than 8th

...he is 7th and Hulkenberg not better than 9th (happened three times for Grosjean and once for Verstappen)

...he is 8th and Hulkenberg not better than 10th (happened once for Grosjean and twice for Verstappen)

Hulkenberg

  • best season result: 6th (Spielberg, Suzuka, Sao Paulo)
  • scored points in 8 races

Grosjean

  • best season result: 3rd (Spa)
  • scored points in 9 races
  • scored 7 times the at least needed 3 points

Verstappen

  • best season result: 4th (Budapest, Austin)
  • scored points in 10 races
  • scored 6 times the at least needed 3 points

The battle so far....

Spoiler

Battle for P13 & P14 - Nasr (27) vs. Maldonado (27)

Simple battle: Who finishs ahead will get it. If no one scores points Nasr will stay ahead thanks to his maiden GP in Melbourne. So far in this season Maldonado finished 5 times ahead of Nasr while being in the points.

Nasr

  • best season result: 5th (Melbourne)
  • scored points in 6 races

Maldonado

  • best season result: 7th (Montreal, Spielberg, Sotschi)
  • scored points in 6 races

The battle so far....

Spoiler

Battle for P15 & P16 & P17 & P18 - Sainz (18) vs. Button (16) vs. Alonso (11) vs. Ericsson (9)

Button would beat Sainz by scoring two points more than him due to his better best race finish. Similar applies to Alonso (7 points) and also for Alonso compare to Button (5 points). Ericsson needs at least a 5th place to have a chance for P15, beating Alonso is not unlikely though (he need at least a 8th place), for beating Button he needs to finish at least 6th.

With the results from Monaco, Sotschi or Austin Button would get the 15th place. The result from Budapest would give him the edge over Sainz, but he would lose out against Alonso. The Melbourne result would give Ericsson the edge over Alonso.

Sainz

  • best season result: 7th (Austin)
  • scored points in 7 races

Button

  • best season result: 6th (Austin)
  • scored points in 4 races
  • scored in 4 races the at least needed 3 points

Alonso

  • best season result: 5th (Budapest)
  • scored points in 2 races
  • scored in one race the at least needed 7 points (Budapest) to beat Sainz and in the same race the at least needed 5 points to beat Button

Ericcson

  • best season result: 8th (Melbourne)
  • scored points in 5 races
  • scored in one race the at least needed 3 points to beat Alonso (Melbourne)

The battle so far....

Now this is what I call dedication. Kudos Marklar. You get one purple point from me on sustaining the F1 hype when most dudes/dudettes are giving up.

My votes (purely by heart):

#1: Minardi

#2: Kimi

#3: The Hulk

Damn, it's slowly dawning on me... it's nearly late-November and the off-season is starting to rear it's ugly head.

Agreed Ov.
MarkyMark has been a shining beacon of 'give a ****' in a sea of understandable apathy.

- Abiiiiiii Dabiiiiiiiiiii Doooooooooooo Byeeeeeeeeeee is a power track - Will suit the Lotus and Hulk.

Ferrari is quicker and as such should allow Kimi to steal the 2 points he needs.

Lotus will probably come out on top because as teejay said power is pretty important at Abu Dhabi, and the STRs will get mugged down that long straight by anyone with a Mercedes or Ferrari engine.  The only reason it's even close between those two teams in the first place is because Maldonado is totally unreliable, although I suppose the Renault engine in the STR is just as unreliable.

Kimi should beat Bottas since he clearly has a better car, but it depends who's car is damaged more when they crash into each other.

If Raikkonen beats Bottas, then the season's overall Top 10 would be in pairs: 2x Mercedes (1st and 2nd), 2x Ferrari (3rd and 4th), 2x Williams (5th and 6th), 2x Red Bull (7th and 8th), and 2x Force India (9th and 10th). :drunk:

Which just shows that the cars have not only big, but decisive role in championship.

I feel it's 70/30 car/pilot. As for the poll I voted like the majority.
