I'm totally going to buy a watch that's being advertised by Daniil Kvyat instead of Jenson Button.

Not a brilliant move brand wise.

Mansoor Oijeh the owner of TAG acquired Heuer watchmaking in 1985 before selling it on to LVMH in 1999. From personal experience I can say that there is a world difference in quality between the old TAGS and the present burnt offerings from LVMH. Oijeh remains a major shareholder in McLaren Technology.

TAG doesn't own TAG Heuer anymore

LVMH purchased the TAG Heuer subsidiary in 1999 for US$740 million

So does anyone still sponsor Mclaren?

I was going to say it was a good job Mclaren had vastly expanded their road car business. However looking at their profits this year, sales were £475 million but profits were only £15 million. That's only about a 3% profit margin and fairly insignificant in terms of F1 racing money. And a fair chunk of that that money is probably going to be reinvested in future Mclaren road car models.

The LVMH watch division is TAH Heuer, Zenith - and Hublot !

Meaning that they have Red Bull Racing and Ferrari sewn up; interesting.

Assume that ExxonMobil and KPMG are still with McLaren, and the Johnnie Walker exit is unconfirmed.

I can't say much about the watches but can say my personal experience of LVMH taking over the perfume giant Guerlain has been similar. My subjective view is that the quality has really dropped while the price has stayed the same, to the extent I buy all my Guerlain scents vintage on eBay.

I guess that's taking me ever so slightly away from Racing comments though!

TAG owns absolutely zero shares of TAG Heuer anymore?

btw I wonder how dependent CHANDON or TAG Heuer actually are on LVMH in activities like sponsoring and brand strategy.

So no more Casio Edifice

as I checked briefly, RBR-CASIO partnership started in 2009 and current one is on 2014-2015 basis, and previous one was on 2 years as well, so yes most likely casio is out at least from Red Bull.

This is a bit confusing, you would think TAG selling off TAG Heuer the name would be back to just Heuer again.

People running from McLaren like they have some disease, they need to be fighting for podiums ASAP or Sponsors will not come.

that's extremely short-sighted way of viewing things. Measles outbreak in Disneyland in US while ago was due to those despicable scaremongers and irresponsible media as well as some actively ignorant people, not infected's in general or even diseases fault. Same for MMR calamity in UK many years back. In this case Honda cannot be "disease" itself

What have led Honda to underachieve, and take higher risks in the first place? Token system (basically tied to the first iteration for many years to come, and the less token you get for 2nd year onwards the later you enter), lack of testing opportunities allowed, situation Mclaren was forced in (lost Merc works status so needed new works status as soon as possible. Also couldnt procrastinate contract extension with Merc and hide Honda deal until the last minute, etc), etc.

This will surely puts Ron Dennis' head on the guillotine going into 2016. If the team doesn't win races next year I can see shareholders asking Ron to step down. Worst, Button and Alonso will most certainly desert the team if they can't contest for the podium in 2016.

McLaren Technology (which owns McLaren Racing) only owns around 4% of McLaren Automotive, so even if all of that £15m profit were distributed to shareholders the racing team would only receive around £600k.

The automotive operation is not going to save the racing team's financial bacon anytime soon.

Apparently, these sponsors remain.

TAG Heuer is dropping out as you can see.

Santander and Johnie Walker are apparentely dropping out as well.

Mobil1 and exxon is pretty much the same company I think (might be wrong)

And a few of these (eg Pirelli) are no sponsors, they are just technical partners.

If you buy a watch because Jenson Button advertises it you must be pretty sad anyway...and which of those two drivers do you think has bigger market appeal in, say, Russia?

McLaren need to pray that Honda are competitive next year. Otherwise they have a hard time attracting new sponsors, existing ones may leave and then if Honda withdraws and takes the fat wad of cash they have been throwing at the driver salaries....

Honda has lots of money.

They can forget about sponsors and paint the car in 'my earth dream' colours as before.

Stories suggest that both J Walker and Martini before offered Ron title sponsorship but were turned down. Maybe there were others he told to go away. He won't reduce fees just because McLaren is having a bad year.

Another McLaren quote I recall. 'We're not a public company, we don't have to make a profit'.

So . . . one must assume the team is hardly having a liquidity crisis.

All I care about is McLaren Honda making that big step next year. Sponsors come and go and will not make any difference to a team like them succeeding. Once the success comes they will all come like a flock of birds.
