Going by the comments of disgruntled TAG Heur owners on here, I can't see what the problem is.

I mean, a once renowned maker of quality items that built up a massive reputation and fanbase now reduced to shoddy, prone to breaking, shadows of former glories - don't TAG Heur and McLaren fit together perfectly?

From Will Buxtons blog

Monaco, allegedly, was the tipping point for Ron. So what did TAG Heuer do that left Dennis so aghast? It turned up with Cara Delevingne and put her in one of his cars. Yes they put her in a hideous outfit, but this is Cara Delevingne. Now I’m with Ron in that I genuinely don’t have a clue what she is famous for, but I do recognise that she is one of the biggest stars in the world at the moment. Four million twitter followers. Just shy of Twenty Four million (I’m going to write that out… 24,000,000) followers on Instagram. And having her sit in a McLaren was a bad thing?

Ron believes that social media isn’t the way of the future. Perhaps not. Who knows? But it’s the way of today. And in Monaco, that one person alone had a reach of almost 30 million sets of eyes. If that’s not considered good for business, it stands to reason that the person who holds that belief may, themselves, be bad for business.

As a Danish politician once said in Parliament "Man har et standpunkt til man tager et nyt" - loosely translated "One has a view and opinion, until one form a new ones".

And how many followers are real? Most celebrities buy them by the millions to look interesting.

I think more of the problem was that Delevigne was there and then snubbed interviews on the grid - ie Brundle and co.

If someone is there to promote the team/brand/sponsor then they should be accessible rather than just making it about themselves.

Surprisingly at least her twitter followers are mostly real, but this has anyway just 4.4 m follower. I don't know about her instagram, though. But over 20m looks suspicious, yes.

Ouch. He makes Ron sound borderline senile.

didn't read the whole thread, any idea how long is the deal for Red Bull to run the re-badged Renault engine?  the original Renault contract expires end of 2016, I wonder if Red Bull will still need a new engine at the end of next year ...
