Almost 5 years ago Pirelli tooked over the supply of F1 tyres from Bridgestone and also DRS was introduced. While both things got a lot critizism during the last couple of years we stil got a few cracking races.

Its often being discussed which race was the best in "modern times". So, I've selected my favourite 15 races of the last 5 years in this poll to find out which one was actually the best race. And also why you think so.

Multiple choices are allowed in case you really cant decide.

Disclaimer: Hopefully I didnt forgot any cracker and I would also like to apologize to everyone whose favourite season was 2013....

I'm not really sure what happened to F1 following 2012. It dropped off the cliff, to use the appropriate lingo.

2011 Canada, which ironically had NOTHING to do with DRS or Pirelli.

Actually, it did--DRS ended up robbing Schumi of a podium.

I looked at the list and thought there must be better races than these... But i cant think of any. But why is USA 2012 there? Not much happened in that race did it?

Most of these don't elicit any sort of narrative at all - but I do remember the 2011 Chinese race.

It had different strategies as teams were getting used to all the new aspects of racing with Pirelli and DRS etc. More importantly; overtaking for the lead and no safety cars! It still wasn't  'great' because the tyres produced most of the drama, but it did enough to make it memorable.

I sigh for F1 when I see the number of votes for races like Canada that same year. :p

Looking at the list, I have absolutely no idea what happened in all these races. And I think I watched most of them.

It really didn't. There's no reason other cars wouldn't have passed him that day.

2012 US GP was a great race, although it would've been better if Hamilton hadn't already been removed from the championship by his car being made of balsa wood and loose spanners.

Yet, I bet like myself you can probably remember everything about a race that happened in 1991!

I voted Bahrain 2014 and Canada 2011.  Though, think it was only the battle between the Mercs that swayed it.  I can't remember a race in the last couple of years that I've gone "WOW!"

Big shame, but F1 doesn't attract me in the same way it did.

Was there any race run completely on wet track and without DRS? That must've been my favorite.

Great list, and contrary to some other people I remember them all!

I voted the 2012 Brazilian GP, but right after that I saw that I missed the option to vote for multiple GPs

I gave a "9" to most (not all) of the GPs mentioned here in the RC Bets&Games rating poll thread.

There was one GP in 2013 that also got a 9 from me: the Hungarian GP.

Was not. It was built from false hope and unrealistic expectations.

I think Honda are using the same suppliers, they were referred to by Mclaren...... "false hope and unrealistic expectations incorporated".

We've had an identical thread quite recently. As for Canada 2011:

Canada 2011 is one of the all-time most overrated races. It was started behind the safety car and left out for ages before Charlie dawdled on red-flagging the race and wasted more racing laps behind it. Then he left it out yet again after the race restarted. Button's brilliant recovery, and of course that final lap which is all everyone remembers, was tempered by watching Schumacher's comeback podium being robbed from him by DRS. Don't forget that at the time, we didn't know whether Button would keep his victory pending a stewards inquiry. The race was mainly a farce.

If Vettel hadn't thrown it away, nobody would have remembered it as a classic.

Brazil 2012, can't beat a close title fight in the last race of the season.

Never saw anything like Bahrain 2014 in the recent years of F1.

A titanic, continous, wheel to wheel battle for the race win.

And the racing in the middle of the pack was brilliant also.

Brazil 2012 is my favourite. A cracking battle for both the championship and the win.

Monaco 2014 should be on the list as well. Not for the racing, but for the amount of chaos and unpredictability, and of course for Jules scoring points.

The 2011 Canadian GP was a farce worthy of Pirandello--sort of like "Six Safety Cars in Search of a Checkered Flag."

I have exactly the same! Perhaps being tucked behind live timing more than I used to is detrimal for remembering races, but my hero was Schumacher and I hardly remember his 2010-2012 spell as well. I guess we hardly have any battles for the lead in races anymore. The battles without overtakes (Japan 2000, Imola 2005 and 2006) were more memorable than the current ones. I always have the feeling it is DRS or Pirelli pancakes rather than skill. Someone mentioned USA 2012. Wasn't that the race where Hamilton finally DRS-passed Vettel?

If I have to mention one, it is the Hamilton - Schumacher battle at Monza 2011. The Mercedes with ultra low downforce setting to negate the DRS from Hamilton and both had a battle for around 17 laps. That was great fun to watch. Now watch Hamilton vs Rosberg in last race and no attempt was made. :(

Any race where DRS was not overpowered, combined with a smaller gap between old and new tyres. Concluding: barely any race between 2011 and 2015.

Brazil 2012: Vettel's comeback from last place with a damaged car to win his third WDC.

Hungary 2015: first non-Mercedes win since 7 races and what a start of the race.

I really liked Germany 2011. An exciting race featuring some great drives, including a fantastic performance from Hamilton and also Alonso rode home on the top of Webber's car.
