From the number on, and engine in this car I'd guess this is Ludwig Heimrath... or is it Jerry?

Oh dear... it just dawned on me... what if he reads this and I got it wrong... he'll be f u r i o u s :(

Where did this car run in this colour?

Was it more orange ...or more yellow?

With all these questions, you can see why I don't sleep at night.

Judging by the silver helmet and the Ford Power, I would say it is Ludwig, 1965, He was Canadian Champ in 64, and this McLaren was orange, many photos of it exist. As to track, the hay bales indicate an airport circuit, Harewood Ont was still in use in 65 and he won there, that is my best guess.

Dilemma: do I remove the post before Jerry sees it!   ;)

Great info thanks D28.

I need to come up with more challenging questions for you lot...

Would the honourable kind gentlemen conoisseurs on this forum concur that the sticker in front of the POWERED BY FORD on te above car, is a Ringfree Motor Oil sticker, as per this chap, below?

Probably, though I cannot see it clearly.

I take this Heimrath  McLaren to be the same car with different sponsorship as you queried Nov 13 15:38  Before the Keating Ford painting..

Did you discover the decal you were searching for on the right flank?

I don't think it is the Racing Formula decal. It looks like a cartoon character something like a Michelin man.leaning to the right.

And you have ID a Firestone decal which I think is correct. So still wondering.

Upon enlarged inspection, I don't think it's the same decal. The top edges are rounded on the car, the reds don't match in position, and the car decal looks like a Canadian flag.

I will have to ask you about that D28 handle sometime! Remind me! :)

Nope, not had any responses from the audience just yet on that decal - here it is once more:

And here's why I now think the orange car does have that Ring Free decal on it:

I agree that this is likely to be the same car as the red car above, but earlier.

Can't confirm it on Racingsportscars.com however, but it makes sense!

...although I still suspect I am right and the features you refer to are due to digital image noise... Help me find some more pics and I will bet $10 on it - provided you take paypal :-)

Let's hope he has a look in here.

So... evidence is mounting... here's an image of Dick Brown's car (another Elva MkII) roughly at the same time (same race?) as Ludwig's car with the mystery sticker - and if you zoom in... behold, a(nother?) Ringfree sticker!

Soooo... I've cracked it!!

Well, one of the outstanding queries anyway...

I had been trying to find out, as you gentlemen experts may recall, what the text was on the yellow decal, next to REDeX:

(Ignore exhausts comment)

Then I remembered what was on the other side of this car:

What is on the yellow decals is a white version of the Red Stallion (Service Station Supplies) logo methinks!  :D

Where did this car run in this colour?

Was it more orange ...or more yellow?

Given all the romantic fantasy about Papaya, perpetrated not least by McLaren, one might wonder if the car in question here was in fact not Rylands Traffic Yellow in colour ?

Yes I do not think this car was papaya but perhaps not pure yellow either. Your reference (or the link someone mention in your thread) seems a good warm orangy yellow. Thanks.
