Sooo... this car (Elva Mk II / M1B)...

http://www.racingspo...-09-18-038a.jpg

Does anyone know any more about sticker on the right rear quarter?

Given that it looks like the second part of it says 'SALES', I am wondering if it is a version of the GREENE SALES stickers that featured on the later M6B he drove as well (below)?

It would be wonderful to find a closer shot of it so I can see what the three 'strokes' are.

I was saddened to find out Dick was the first fatality in Can Am

It would be nice, and perhaps a small gesture of respect that I can make, if I can build a model of both his M1B and M6B cars at some point.

You mentioned elsewhere that you repro decals on a computer.

Curious, in Illustrator? Companies custom-print these tiny water-applied decals then?

It might just be my eyes deceiving me but my first reaction looking at the "strokes" was that there 3 letters in the background , a G, a S and I, no? At least, it would make sense...

That's what I'm seeing, too.

>> Yep, although mostly I start in Photoshop. Yes I have a few different contacts that will print custom orders for me. It ain't cheap but it's something I really enjoy doing so why not!

Illustrator's a giant pain but very worthwhile in areas of precision and color accuracy for repro art like that. I have a large archive of old decals, but Alas, they're in long-term storage with most everything else.

I suspect other modelers could split the tab on decal repros in bulk, it's gotta be fun to get those in and lay 'em down!

The fun bit is the research and the people you meet along the way - such as yourself!

Here's a first draft of that sticker:

Not bad!

Height of GSI needs some height extension relative to type, and the top and bottom of GSI's "G" needs rounding like the "S," and "Sales" bumped right (closer to "E" than "I" will give visual center because the "I" is more "solid" than the "E"), but as you said it's a first draft… and a bloody good one

Alterations like mentioned are why Illustrator is the la Bomba.

Yeah, this place is all about the people, I've made a ton of new friends here.

Certainly I annoy some, but they'd never be friends anyway.   ;)

Thanks for the feedback. Don't forget the GSI will be all of 2mm tall! ;-)

Yeah, I knows, just used to giant stuff — like the 12x15-foot photos on my monitor right now!

Thursday Car - lucky you're not a 'Monday Car' ;) , you were fortunate to find someone like Eric to help out. Not many people who 'know what they are talking about', are prepared share this 'knowlege'. There are plenty of naysayers around, who think they know everything. I admire your work, and wish you well.

G.M.

Edit:-  Typo...I blame Arthur[itis] for all my mistakes these days.

Hi Greg, thanks for the note. What you describe is a cross section of our modern society, surely, so I don't expect any different here! I have indeed been pleasantly surprised by a few individuals and that has been a real joy. Eric, D28, Vincent, Tim and others have been a real pleasure and great fun to chat with. I hope I can repay the forum by chipping into more other conversations and helping others - or just by publishing the odd story, image or images of stuff I am working on

PS - my regards to Arthur Itis, may his visits to you be fleeting and sparse!
