Greetings fellow TNFers.

I'm on the hunt for some information on behalf of my friends in the MG Car Club. My TNF pal Steve Wilkinson will kindly post the accompanying photo - it's been so long since I uploaded one I've forgotten how to. Thanks Steve.

The car in question is Ted Lund's MGA 1500 registration number NBL 273, driven by Ted Lund in the 1956 National Rally organised by The Motor Cycle Club from 8th to 10th November. The accompanying shot is at Hastings where the event finished.

The car still exists and the owner wants to find any reports on this event plus any others in 1956 or 57 where the car may have competed driven by Ted Lund or possibly someone else.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Rob

Many thanks Rupert for taking the time to find and post those links, much appreciated. The photo I was expecting to be posted by my pal Steve failed to materialise as he has had trouble posting it I'm afraid.

Fellow TNFer Roger Clark has provided me with the requested report - thanks Roger. I know once again my MG Car Club colleagues will be impressed by the fount of knowledge and information that is TNF.

The car's current owner David Anderson is grateful of TNF's assistance and has asked me to pose the following pretty tough questions:

"Can anyone identify the passenger/Ted Lund's navigator? And has knowledge of
persons who may have been involved in the preparation of the car or
generally preparing Ted's car possibly at the Preston Road garage, or
elsewhere?"

"The car must have had a fairly severe prang as on examination a very
professional repair had been made to the bulkhead which came to light when
this was sandblasted. Perhaps this will be remembered, maybe by someone who made the repair."

Thanks again in anticipation.

Sorry for slightly hijacking the thread - I'm interested in Ted Lund for my TVR racing research. It appears Ted Lund's Preston Road Garage is in Coppull near Chorley Lancs. Ted Lund entered a TVR Climax at Mallory Park in August 1958. I wondered if this was Oliver Hart's open sports TVR. Apart from being a successful Speedway rider Oliver also owned a haulage company and possibly a quarry which was based in Coppull. So I guess this is how they met.

One other possible link to the TVR is that Bernard Williams an early director of TVR was a speedway rider before the war.

Ted Lund also shared a MGA with Colin Escott at Le Mans, Colin was an early 'works' driver for TVR. Anyone have more history on Ted Lund, Colin Escott or Oliver Hart.

Thanks Rob

So, was Stan Hart Oliver's son or brother, cousin or nephew? He did a bit in s.seaters at the end of the 50s, ISTR.

There is a book called Harts of Coppull by TAG Allison I've not got a copy but the precis mentions a twin brother Ron and another brother Stan who died in a speedway race before the war. However, there is a RS Hart who appears to share the open TVR, I think this is his son so he could have driven single seaters in the late 50's.

Thanks, Rob. I have some entries for him in 59/60 in a Cooper. It is just peripheral info to be able to expand a narrative in  my project.

Looking at Stan Hart's races he also seems to have driven a T49 Cooper / Ferrari for JBW at Chimay GP des Frontieres F2. I have a number of questions about Brian Naylor so will start another thread.

In response to RobMk2A's interest in Ted Lund, you might find some of the detail in this thread interesting Rob:
