Anyone else a little depressed, as we approach the final race of the year, that it has to be Abu Dhabi? The place is a dull track with little F1 history, few fans - it just seems like a very empty place in which to end the season. I have a feeling quite a lot of people would feel the same way, but imagine you could pick from any of the tracks on the current calendar - where would you choose to hold the season finale?

For me, Brazil was the ideal place. Fantastic track, loads of fans, inclement weather and a nice teatime start for us European fans, allowing to soak up the pre-race atmosphere all day and be a nervous wreck by the time the lights go out. Although I also think Mexico would be pretty good - can you imagine that podium ceremony after a tense title finale?

Anyway, what do you guys think? Where would you like to see the season finale held?

This is effectively a "when did you start watching F1?" thread. Subsequently, my vote is for Suzuka.

Based on that I would vote for Jerez :p

Suzuka would be my 2nd choice, but I didnt liked the season finals so much like in Brazil.

Suzuka. The best Track. Many years of it being the last race, and because Interlagos is in a horrible time zone.

But any traditional track would be fine. Anything but the new tracks in desolate locations.

Now that's all going to depend on where you live. For Europe, which is F1's main TV audience after all, Suzuka is terrible last race because it's on at stupid o'clock in the morning, which completely spoilt the title battle.

Going off that, Interlagos is my venue. Being on in the late afternoon on a classic track with a passionate crowd is all I ask for a finale.

A1 Ring Red Bull Ring - the track will become a classic by virtue of hosting championship deciding races, and for those years in which the championship is decided before the last race the spectators should be able to entertain themselves with the year's first batch of snow on the Austrian mountainsides. It's also quite centrally located in Europe.

I'll throw in Monte Carlo. I'm not saying it would give the greatest race, but think about the after party if the WDC went down to the last race.

Monza.  I think they should shrink the season while they are at it.  Start in May at Monaco, and end in October at Monza.  12 or 13 races would be plenty.

Monaco

Brazil

Mexico

Canada

Great Britain

France

Germany

Australia

Japan

Middle East

Africa

Belgium

Italy

That's 6 in Europe, 2 in Asia, 2 in North America, 1 in South America, 1 in Africa, 1 in Australia.

It would be great to have Spa or Silverstone have the final race, but the season should end much earlier (perhaps starting in January).

Realistically I would like the season end in late October at Suzuka. Not because of the nostalgia, but because it's a demanding circuit where championship contenders must be top-notch as a single mistake may cost the championship. The weather is often unpredictable and the Japanese fans are totally crazy, regardless whether there's a Japanese driver participating.

One thing I like about Abu Dhabi being the season finale is that it is a twilight race. I think it's awesome to start out in daylight and end the race in night. It feels right that the season ends with fireworks in the darkness. But the track is awful so it definitely should not be the final race.

Brazil more often than not has great racing and occasionally has mixed weather which makes title deciders not so straight forward.

I think the Americas is the best place for the season finale. IndyCar finale at Sonoma started 1pm local, i.e. 4pm ET what people said was ideal. And Brazilian GP does start at 4pm UK time so it must be ideal.

Suzuka is a great track but I don't like the race starting so early. Also, aren't most non-European fans in the Americas? Asia is bad for them all, early morning for Europeans and very late night for the folks in the Americas.

So, I'd prefer the season finale in the Americas. I'd prefer the slightly later start of USA or Mexico, though as a venue and event, I prefer Brazil.

As a working man/woman yes. But growing up with Suzuka was great. I'm born in 1990. Extra getting up for it and being total excited...

Maybe I'm getting old but I'm not excited at all about waking up early for races. Also afternoon races (like almost all European races) are at a bad time, when you could do so many things in a weekend. American races in the evening are just perfect.

Votes for another venue are not not necessarily votes against Abu D. I don't mind the idea of the dusk to dark finale, but which track is best for racing? Many seem to prefer Brazil, but this year it was dead boring.

Every race track can provide dead boring races. In recent years just Hungary and Bahrain weren't boring. Brazil has the 'advantage' of unpredictable weather which gave us great races in the past.

I'll try and post something slightly less flippant than my earlier comment.

Every track can produce stunning races, and every track can  produce tedious races.

Fireworks and spotlit hotels don't cut the mustard.

I'd like to see the final race of the year at a track that is packed with folk on their feet applauding the drivers, shouting loud enough to drown out any engines, fans that invade the circuit to salute the drivers on the podium, where the champagne gets sprayed - and drunk - in excitement.

Many ciruits could be the "best" place,  I'm not sure if we have it though.

Sure, but if the WDC or WCC are to be decided I'd rather not have weather as a factor.

Bernie and co, when you make decisions for the sport that are so blatantly contrary to what the fans want (Abu Dhabi has less than 2% of the votes in this poll), how can you be at all surprised when the sport goes to the dogs? Quit signing dodgy deals with your Sheikh buddies and gives us our sport back.

My vote would be a purpose built F1 track somewhere on the U.S. east coast.

Maybe Watkins Glen if some insane benefactor would pony up the $$$$$ for a refurbishment.

But I'm not really that picky...

Anything would still require said insane benefactor though.
