What was the 'proper' title of the mixed F1/F2 race held at Oulton Park on 15 April 1967? It appears to be known variously as the 'VIII Spring Trophy' or the '1st Daily Express Spring Cup'. Were F1 and F2 racing for different prizes?

The official programme has it as "The Daily Express International Spring Cup Meeting". It was in aid of the GP International Medical Service and "other voluntary medical organisations". The F1 and F2 cars were not put into different classes, and all the start and prize money that would normally have gone to the entrants was donated to the International GP medical Service and associated organisations.

Thanks. There have been other threads and articles that made me think it was a one-off, but the 'VIII Spring Trophy' title (used here for example: http://www.formula2.net/F267No9.htm) puzzles me a bit.

During the 60s, and perhaps before, Oulton Park traditionally hosted a spring International, or National Open meeting. The meeting was usually known as the Spring Cup meeting.

Off the top of my head I can remember the events in 1962 to 1964 featured sports or GT cars as the featured race. In 1965 F2 headed the bill. Formula 2 was also due to be featured in 1966 but the meeting was snowed off - however the Spring Cup tag seemed to have been dropped on this occasion in favour of being the "International 200" ( a race that had in previous years been run at Silverstone 65 (again cancelled due to bad weather) and Aintree before that. In 1968 the Spring Cup reverted to a sports car race (Gp4/6).

I am not sure, without delving further (which I am happy to do) what happened after that, although I think F5000 featured in 1969/1970 and F1 in 1971 but not necessarily with the Spring Cup title.
