Lewis was 1 sec. behind Rosberg, when Nico pitted.

Yes, that's what I said.

Kimi: "Why do I always get that rosewater instead of champaign when I get podium?"

Kimi got all of his podiums this year on night races on "rosewater" territory

Reading the thread, generally agree the race was not great. It's a superb facility at Yas Marina though, and as long as you don't mind queuing to go through endless security and x-ray machines, you'd have a nice time.  Highlight of the race were the fireworks!

In summary from my eyes & ears at the track, rather than watching on TV...

*  Mercedes dominance not only relates to their power advantage, but also relates to their clear turn in speed around the marina section, both Nico and Lewis seemed to have ability to 'chuck it in' with total confidence.  Next best car to do this was probably the commitment from Max V in the Toro Rosso; and also the Red Bulls, which always look on rails.

*  From watching the McLaren Honda as far back at the Jerez test and Aussie GP, to seeing them in Abu Dhabi, I can certainly see massive balance improvements and it looked very good climbing up turn 3 (high speed grip good).  So tip of the hat to McLaren there, but watching it get smashed on the main straight, looking down from the Abu Dhabi Hill after turn 7 (or is it 8) is horrendous.  Off throttle its sound still makes you pull an Oh dear sort of face; but on full throttle, I still think it sounds good with its deep throaty roar.  It has quite a rake on it too, almost Red Bull level.

*  Red Bull cars clearly have amazing grip in the tight twisty stuff, its only really at top end speed the Renault seems to suffer; not like Dany Ric or Danny K were suffering too bad from what I could see

*  Williams seemed super twitchy in the slow stuff.  Everything the Red Bull excelled, Massa and Bottas seemed to suffer with.  Watching Massa constantly over-steer in the slow marina section made it look like a handful

*  Force India looked "OK".  Neither spectacularly good nor bad.  Its like the F1 car equivalent of a nice ham-and-cheese sandwich.  You like it, but somehow you think it could be more.

*  The Sauber is unspectacular, and watching Ericsson vs Nasr in terms of driving style seems like chalk and cheese.  Must make development tricky with radical differing views from the cockpit (I would guess.)

*  I tip my hat to Manor.  Must be hard to keep going, the car is clearly not good, and looks like something GP2'ish compared to top F1 teams.  Still, they turn up and seem to get the car round.  Going a bit slower means it is easier for me to get photos of Will and Roberto.

I have uploaded some snaps on www.scottmbailey.com  You will see the link.  Will add more snaps later this evening.

Thought it was probably one of the most boring races I'd seen. Have to see how next season goes but maybe my 30+ love affair with F1 is on the wane. Have to see how nest season goes I suppose.

I was surprised that Mercedes strategy to keep Hamilton out on worn tyres, after he had cut the gap down to almost nothing before Rosberg's final pitstop, only to leave him so far behind Rosberg when he finally took on fresh tyres, could ever be described as a chance for Hamilton to win. I was sat there thinking I as a viewer was robbed of a race to the flag between Rosberg and Hamilton.
