Welcome back Renault.
I figure this needs it's own thread. Glad to see the black and yellow return.

It will be interesting to see how seriously they take this now they are a team owner again. Hopefully for the good of the sport they are a strong entity. Hopefully as a Williams fan they are not so strong they challenge my lot
But good to see the team are now in a better position to go forward.

I am shocked I never saw this coming, I can't believe it. So out of the blue.

That's a relief. Long live Team Enstone.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 21:09
Good luck with Maldonado and Palmer lol.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 21:09
This by the way is super news, I realise my first post was all sarcasm no acknowledgement of this fact.
Maldonado in a works team, time to prove us wrong.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 21:09
A big day for Enstone team. They have fully deserved this
Posted 03 December 2015 - 21:10
Most drawn out announcement for years, but nice to see it in writing at last. With Enstone now becoming Renault once more that's one less team in danger of imminent collapse.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 21:11
New challenge?

Pleased this means the team will survive. Not so pleased that Renault's return to F1 as a works team will consist of a driver line up of Maldonado and Palmer.
Give Vandoorne or Ocon a call. I'm sure they'll be available.

The next season is going to be a rebuilding year. Wait until 2017 to see who Renault really want in their cars.

Alonso to Renault?

Alonso to Renault?
Please no.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 21:30
Excellent news for F1!
Posted 03 December 2015 - 21:31
Good! Really good! …but I have a feeling that with time, we'll learn that they've slimmed the F1 team down by 20% or something. I just don't get the feeling they really plan on becoming a title-winning team.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 21:33
The priority will be the engineering side of the team, not drivers.
It's expected that Bob Bell will return there as TD.
As one of the architects of Mercedes' success, he may be able to persuade some of the mercedes engineers to (re)turn to Enstone.

Exactly. The car and the Renault PU will not be superstrong in 2016, that's for sure. So the quality of the drivers in 2016 will not be so important (and their money will be used to rebuild the team). Just look at Mclaren this year. 2017 should be different from this aspect.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 21:40
Great news...
I secretly wished that they don't come back, that Bernie forces the budget engine, Ferrari and Mercedes leave as well and maybe those idiots calling the shots in F1 shake their heads and start doing things right.
But oh well...
Posted 03 December 2015 - 21:42
The driver deals were done probably just to get money in 2016 while they work on the car for 2017. Maldonado may have been just a back up for Lotus in case Renault pulled out of the deal.
Speaking of Alonso, if Renault were competitive and McLaren not towards the end of 2016 I bet he'd love to move back there where he won his back to back championships if the door was open...

McLaren didn't give us the 'retro' Marlboro livery, let's all spend the winter longing for this.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 22:22
Is it just me or does Ghosn look like someone out of Dragonball Z?
Rowan Atkinson.
Which is bad.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 22:25
I wonder how RoGro feels today.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 22:28
I really don't think he's bothered. He must've known there was a 50/50 chance of this happening, but took a chance on Haas with a "long eye" on Ferrari.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 22:32
I just see Ferrari as a longshot for him.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 22:32
Palmer and Maldonado will be the drivers next year, as 2016 will be a transitional one. However, I believe that for 2017 they will want a top driver.

Yep. Next year's silly season should be a quite eventful and entertaining one.

Same here, absolutely, but he must believe in it. (Besides Haas, with all that Ferrari hardware, might be just as competitive as Renault next year.)

Happy day for Renault.
Sad day for the name of Lotus.

Liquid Yellow Renaultsport livery please

Black & Yellow.
Yep. Looking forward to seeing that, and...
Pleased for the Enstone faithful.
Indeed. Good for the fans and the team!

Cant wait I really hope Renault does well will be rooting for these guys And really hope some how they could destroy Red Bull. After what Red bull put theme threw.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 23:14
Best bloody news for ages. Next year I won't spend half the weekend doing double takes on the live forum whenever someone in Lotus does something/ says somthing / sets fire to a squirrel.
Posted 03 December 2015 - 23:25
Delighted to hear this. While their recent years have been variously embarrassing and annoying, there will always be a place for Renault in F1 as far as I am concerned.

Happy day for Renault.

It was never really lotus tho, think the lotus that became caterham was a closer bloodline
