Looks like Carlos was running with a bit less wing today, higher top speed and faster in sector 3 with the long straight but slower in sectors 1 and 2.

Max overall obviously a bit quicker and I assume also the better setup if it is wet tomorrow. Of course there still is practice 3.

Looking forward to a wet qualifying tomorrow. P4 might not be out of the question.

It's only race three, but I've got a feeling their 2015 engine is already hurting them. Red Bull already out of reach, Williams is closing in, so is Force India. They seem to be back to where they were in 2015 when they had Renault power, around P8-P12. Doesn't bode well as the season has only just started.

Anyone have speedtraps?

The one on the back straight here should give us a very good idea of where things are.

I'm not sure if it's the back straight, but in the Q speed trap I've posted in the Chinese GP thread, both TR's are only 3kph slower than Perez at number 1

Not sure if the speed traps tell the whole story.

The main reason why they chose the 2015 Ferrari engine was the reliabilty issues but Renault seems to have that sorted. Definitely believe they are worried whether they made the right choice now but of course Tost won't admit that.

It is still a bit early to jump to conclusions but Renault obviously has made big steps and I am sure there is more to come so in hindsight TR should have probably stuck with them.

Their target is 5th in the constructors championship. And last year they ended up 7th losing many points because of reliabilty. This year at least that is sorted. I think people had too high expectations and Tost talking about possible podium etc doesnt help. I still think James Key and team did great job considering the last minute PU switch. Theres no such thing as miracles considering their budget they are doing fine imo. If they can get some decent points in 1st half of year 5th is within reach.

The car looked very good on Thursday in the hands of both drivers, there's potential for another top 6 result here in Monaco.

Good qualifying by the guys, bit of a shame that they qualified behind Hulkenberg but we'll see how the race pans out. They should target 5th and 6th if possible, get a large amount of points because Canada could be rather painful running last year's PU.

Euro F3 driver and RB junior Sergio Sette Camara is set to debut with Toro Rosso at the test at Silverstone. Definitely a hurry-up to Gasly.

Not really - Red Bull need Gasly to drive both days seeing as they used both race drivers in Barcelona, and as Toro Rosso also used Kvyat for 1 day then they need someone else to drive the Toro Rosso for at least 1 day of the test. (now if Red Bull don't use Gasly for both days then I would say that was more of a warning to him...)
