Winter has come.
Winter is a long, dreadful pain for Motorsport passionates.
No racing, no drama, just waiting..

Wait...It's FORMULA E time folks!

*John Cena theme running in the backround

Racing in the stunning scenario of Punta Del Este, the Uruguayan Formula e-Prix is one of the most iconic location in the calendar. A few meters from the beach there's a circuit, one of the fastest, tightest and most challenging in the calendar, and a few meters from the circuit there's the spectacular skyline of Punta Del Este
Here in Uruguay the passion for motorsport is vivid, as the huge crowd of last year's debut e-Prix proved.

Racing is on saturday 19th of December, the week before Christmas. Who will be gifted by Santa Claus this time?

- WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR?

Last year's Punta del Este e-Prix was one of the most drama-filled & close of the entire season. A stunning debut performance by Andretti's Jean Eric Vergne put him on pole in front of Nelson Piquet Jr (China Racing) & Sebastien Buemi (Dams).

A lot of wheels spinning from Vergne at the race start cost him the first position, but soon managed to get in front of Piquet once again by attacking hard into the hairpin.
Meanwhile Buemi managed to pass the brazilian too and get into the slipstream of the frenchmen.

At the mid-pack a lot of action, with Sam Bird crashing into the wall as well as Sarrazin & Brabham, forcing 3 Safety Car periods!

Pit stop gamble advantaged Buemi, who had less pace and energy then Vergne in the final laps. The ending was insane! Vergne attacked Buemi in every corner, making even contact, before damaging the car on a kerb and finishing his debut race; Buemi was the race winner!

- WHAT HAPPENED LAST RACE?

69733_di-grassi-avevo-sabbia-in-auto-e-n

One of the most chaotic, unpredictable and crazy races ever went live in the streets of Putrajaya, not far from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

Poleman's Buemi looked comfortable for the second win in a row, but reliability issues started to decimate the field in the second part of the race. Than lead changes every, lap, crashes, and the victor always uncertain.
That was pure Formula E madness, but Lucas Di Grassi managed his car & battery better than everyone else, winning the race in front of Sam Bird & the spectacular Robin Frijns

Nice OP as usual, Gamer

EDIT: To put some actual content in this post, I hope that someonte is actually closer to DAMS in terms of pace this weekend

"One of Uruguay's most recognizable landmarks", apparently. Couldn't they have used Luis Suarez taking a bite out of a Formula E car instead?

There is:  Power in Paradise.  But they left it off the poster for some reason.

What has happened to team Trulli?

The Trulli train is derailing. The story that it took a new hire to point out that the team had spent an entire season cooling the wrong component was pretty astonishing. I don't think they've ever known what they're doing.

Trulli is officially out from the season!

trulli-2.jpg

The Trulli Formula E Team has today announced that it will leave the FIA Formula E Championship with immediate effect.

Trulli joined Formula E ahead of the inaugural season after it took over the entry from Drayson Racing. For the second season the team were one of eight approved manufacturers, but both technical and supply issues with its Motomatica JT-01 forced Trulli to miss the Beijing and Putrajaya ePrix.

These issues have now led the team to relinquish its entry to the series back to the organisers, meaning that 18 cars will be entered for the Punta del Este ePrix on December 19.

Francesco Test, CEO of Trulli GP, said: “After failing scrutineering in the Beijing and Putrayaja ePrix and in light of our commercial agreement with Formula E Holdings, we are forced to announce the retirement of Trulli Formula E from the FIA Formula E Championship. As major supporters of this all electric series, we are please to leave space for a new OEM to enter the series and further help develop the series and electric racing technology.”

Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E, said: “We are disappointed that Trulli has decided to leave the championship. Having a driver of the status of Jarno Trulli involved in the early days certainly helped to boost the credibility of Formula E. Taking the decision to become a full manufacturer was a bold one, and one that was always going to present challenges due to the technical advances that Formula E is pioneering. While we are very sad to see Trulli leave, this does create an opportunity for a new team and manufacturer to enter and we are very confident about the future strength of the series.

And Dragon Racing to become a manufacturer in Season 3!

What's up with Formula E and grey liveries? The Car would have looked awesome in the F1 metallic BRG jaguar used :( Almost looks like a NextEv season 1 clone.

Wait, what, how  Do you have a link to a story somewhere?

Here's the story:

“Last year we had a big performance issue because we had a dramatic mistake on the cooling system. Before we received our cars, the first test was run at Donington by Drayson,” he continued.

“We found that from the radiator that they linked first the motor and then the inverter. This means [the inverter] was being ‘eaten’. This is the heart of the car and needs to be cool to be efficient."

...

"I am very upset because you cannot burn up your season for this mistake. We only realised this summer when we were changing the car over for season two and our new Brazilian mechanic saw it and said: ‘Are you crazy, you are cooling the motor first and not the inverter.’

"Our crew last year did not understand this basic and fundamental mistake."

Well crap. The super fast chicane was easily the best corner of the whole season.

Race will be two laps longer than last year!

Weather looks far from perfect this week in Punta del Este

http://www.weather.c...y UYXX0007:1:UY

Rain on friday and cloudy on race day, with a lot of wind expected. Could cause problems with sand, less grip on track.

Haaaaaang on. The above picture is this years layout, the lower one is last years. The chicane looks tighter on last years diagram than this years, in addition to the first chicane modifications... so I'm guessing the T15-16 is actually...unchanged?

....or am I losing it?

Yep.
The picture above is the new layout.

I guess we'll only know on saturday if minor changes to that chicane has been made.

I've heard too that "some chicanes" were slowed down, but no proof from that official layout released.

Very close at the front. A lot of crashes, Buemi and Abt went out in spectacular fashion.

Buemi seems to have damaged his gearbox, it's going to be hard work for Dams.

I think it's geoblocked in countries where there is a TV contract? But I'm still in Nigeria, so I'm not sure.

He conveniently blamed that for him starting last, ignoring that he was already gone after missing the chicane :)
